As I finally close to within a week of being reunited with my tundras I realize I need to sort out a fender liner solution for glassed out front fenders. It rains too much in VA to rely on not getting water into my airbox. Any of y'all got any ideas?

Unsolicited advice, but don't go down that rathole. If works bad, then you get frustrated about lack of productivity outside work and then you beat yourself up and it spirals... If you can, put the truck aside and find something you enjoy, go to dinner, go on a walk, listen to loud music, go to a movie, talk to somebody, reach out just please don't suffer alone.

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing.

I listened to this talk from an airline pilot and he said when they hit bad turbulence, the best thing to do is slow down the plane. So in life's turbulence, slow down and focus on what matters.

When I get down I hop on my bike and ride, just ride.

    "Crackwagon" :rofl:

I think we're in the same boat my friend. I lost all productivity about a year ago when I got shoved back into service work. Nothing done on any vehicle I own, and I still have boxes around the house from when I moved in December. After talking with the dude about coming to work for them, then taking the steps to do it, I'm actually kinda optimistic about the future and looking forward to some cooler weather to get some work done on the truck.

Ive slowed way down, i’ll blame it on wisdom, but it’s probably old age and lazy. With my jeeps and nova and ford, i’d spend my weekends with friends ‘helping’ (drinking) do all the things to all the stuff. When i got the titan, dad had been driving it for 250k and it had the problems, but since i can drive around the problems it just gets oil changes and tires. Its had the throttle problem from 75k miles or so. Let it eat. The stock buell has earned my respect after research of pics of ‘upgrade parts’ and riding a s1000r (no upper front fairing bubble) so, stock it stays until i need to do a 1050cc kit and xb12 primary swap. And im really limited in tundra mods since grandpa likes to drive it when i show up, and he might get fussy if the sidesteps were removed and it sat a few inches higher. And he considers all aftermarket wheels to be ‘ethnic’. But ive come to enjoy it as it is, but the lightbar i bought a couple months ago sits on a workbench in the shop, because 1) i want to replace the bumper if i have to remove it. And 2) the light i bought is perfect, but the internal bumper structure is in the way. And im gonna hafta remove the bumper to drill the holes i need. Everything else hinges on the fact that if im gonna build a bumper, im gonna build a grumper, and i dont want it to look dumb.

I think this whole overwhelmed thing is a little fallout from Covid honestly. We kind of slammed on the brakes from 'normal' life last year and then this spring/summer mostly went back to it full force.

Even if you didn't get shut down things slowed down for a little while then ramped up to and over what they were before. A lot of people went stir crazy then let their emotions out every time they left the house on anyone who was present hasn't helped things either.

I know I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things at work, it's busy, far more busy than it was in the spring and I feel like I'm getting more behind every day. I haven't exercised in a couple weeks, I've been drinking more, eating more unhealthy shit, and I need sit down, decompress, and figure out what the hell I'm doing.

Finally got around to sorting out my brake rotors. OEM came out $50 cheaper than aftermarket Raybestos, so I went that route. Parts will be in on Thursday.

I have an alignment booked for tomorrow, since I hadn't gotten to it after the steering rack replacement last month. I got the driveshaft rebalanced yesterday though since the geometry changed with the new leaf springs. Apparently it was definitely out.

Unsolicited advice is regularly handed out by me, and always welcome from others even if I don't agree or don't want to accept it. I appreciate it.

Just know I'll never be down-and-out to the point of wanting to end anything, not directly suffering, and not needing to call the national 1-800 line or get Baker-Act'd. My brother ruined that opportunity for the rest of the fam. :D

I will say there's a few of us on here (at least 5 I know of, hopefully only to be 4 soon if all goes well w/bmf) who are sort of in a similar boat with regard to work life or careers, which is a huge part of adult lives. I used to spend more time with coworkers than my wife and kids, work used to be fulfilling, but pretty major changes in how and where I work have totally reshaped life.

I think a huge part of it is what @Festerw mentioned not far after your post, the things I bolded in your response are typical outlets, but aren't as easy to do right now due to pandemic climate. I work in digital/tech, and a byproduct of work-from-anywhere means work-all-the-damn-time. Analog activities (wrenching, building, labor, cooking) are my mental scrubs, and they do me well - but being in a rut has me not doing those, same w/social interaction, going out for loud music, restaurants, etc.

I used to take drives also. Drive to Birmingham, AL to go to my favorite Cuban sandwich shop that relocated there. Then drive back! Road time is good critical-thinking/soul-searching time for me, especially when good music is playing. Also a great time to catch up on music. But yeah. With two kids close to 9yrs old, can't just bug out for 2-4 hours to take a break without consequences on the back-end.

I've found some smaller outlets. But my better half and I need to juggle our personal outlets, so it's not always as long or fulfilling as it could be.

Yup. Only I'm taking a bit more of a realistic approach than optimistic. Cooler weather and mosquitoes hitting the road may be the ticket to getting back on the truck work. We'll see.

'ethnic' eh? Damn Pappy, racist much?

(Sorry - I gotta deal with similar crap from my paternal grandfather and about half my family in TX, godbless 'em)

Yup. Everything, yup. Except I had my yearly physical this past week and apparently I've dropped 10lbs from last year. Not sure how will all the beer I'm drinking these days.

Well - I've heard of work/life slowing down from Covid. My work ramped up. I've been working 13 hour days. Sat is chores, Sun is family obligations. Working on the truck? It's frustrating paying for an oil change, or to have the battery changed on your key fob - but sometimes stuff just needs done. I hope to cut off 5.5 hours from my days by years end, of course it'll be too cold out to do anything at that point (other than shoveling snow).

Which leads to what I have done to my 1st gen Tundra today.
Dropped it at the mechanic last night. Previously the tailpipe fell off. Well Sunday past I high velocity accelerated the side of the muffler open. :)
    Love that motor - LOL!

Mechanic called me this noon. Exhaust stem to stern is done. CEL is bad Cat's. Brakes need redone all around....
Timing Belt is an unknown, suspension is due, emissions/inspection due in 3 weeks, hood paint peeling off....

So I offered him the Tundra as payment for some work on the Tacoma. And he accepted. Going to see him in the morning & trade trucks. Drive the Tundra while he works on the Taco, then pay him with the Tundra. So, chapter about to be closed. :-(

McGeorge sent me the wrong part again, but I don't know that it's their fault. The parts diagram is wrong.

I need this hose. They sent 17342-62120 this time.

@empty_lord have you ever seen Toyota do a part update where they might combine two hoses into one? If that is the case then the hose that they sent me would work. It's a inch or two longer than the two combined but it's the right diameter to push onto what I assume is the charcoal canister.

I'm trying to replace a vacuum line that runs to the charcoal canister. McGeorge has sent two different hoses that don't match the one I need in that diagram. I know Toyota will update parts and change the design slightly(belt tensioner for example). I'm asking if you think it's possible they updated the 2 hoses into one long hose. The original design was two hoses that connect in the middle with a plastic tube.

Both CATS? Sounds like it might be the downstream O2 sensors instead or at least I'd rule them out. I can understand if you don't want to bother with the suspension work and timing belt though and if it's more cost effective to just give it to the mechanic to also cover the tacoma.

Cajachina. Good stuff. I'm a huge fan of ropa vieja and vaca frita. Chuletas here and there. Bit this place - Kool Korner - was the best damn Cuban sandwich shop in Atlanta. Totally legit. His son went to school in B-ham AL, so he took the business there. I think they may have 2-3 open now. So good.

Ah yes. Let's just say you caught the Covid 40.

I’ve been researching how to form polyethylene for inner fenders. That’s probably what I’ll do if I end up getting some Hanneman fenders.

Wondering if I should put these center cap stickers on. I accidentally ordered the toyota logo first and then ordered the TRD one. They are supposed to have the white ring with it but wondering if I should:
1.) leave my center caps alone

Did you attach photos with this post? I cant see anything

Wierd, I see your pictures in my quoted post, but not in your original post!

Also, Id go with either nothing or the Toyota emblem, but not the TRD, just my preference. Oh and no white ring if you do add the sticker.
