Just be cautious. I know a couple of people who have the Dasaita in their Tundra's and Sequoia and while they like it they cautioned me to go with the Pioneer units unless you enjoy continually tinkering with the unit.

Was that with the newer generation ones or the older hardware? It seems as though there are a lot of happy peeps with the newer ones. Thanks.

Not sure. A couple of buddies installed the full Tesla style units in their tundras maybe 6-8 months ago and are CONSTANTLY tinkering with them because of glitches, even with upgraded aftermarket firmware. Also, know a guy who has the Amazon Dasaita unit in his 4runner and another guy who has one is a 2014 Sequoia that they installed under a year ago. Not sure of the generations and what not on the Dasaita headunits. Personally I errored on the side of caution and went with the Pioneer Nex unit because I was the unit to be plug and play and just work without lagging, glitching, etc. So far (fingers crossed) that has been my experience withe Pioneer unit.

Gotcha. My pioneer has been mostly error free besides the internal SD card going corrupt. I just want a larger screen and the price difference is SIGNIFICANT between the android units and the pioneer ones.

Not gonna lie, they are expensive. I installed the 8600 and love it. I made the decision between spending 1/2 on something I would have to tinker with or full price on something that was plug and play and would consistently work.

Don't do that, those Chinese made radios are absolute junk, you will be much better off going with legit car audio manufacturers like Kenwood, Alpine, etc.

Based on my personal experience. The Dasaita installation can be tricky. You do not get the exact parts you need. It took three months for me to get all the right combination patch harness to make it work. But, no issues after that. I have been using it for 9 moths now with no glitches.

I heard Joying is a true PnP and a lot cheaper than Dasaita.

I looked into Pioneer NEX, Kenwood and Alpine, but they just don't have the features and flexibility of an android based system. And I wanted the biggest screen that is not floating.

    Good luck!

Thanks to everyone who chimed in about the head unit. After careful deliberation and hours of research, I decided on this new 11.6" Joying head unit. I like the "OEM floating" look of it and the size should be like a MacBook sitting on the dash. Will post pics and a video when it's here and installed. Here is a pic from the manufacturer which should be very similar to my results.:fingerscrossed:

Wonderful choice. I have a joying unit in my truck and I’m happy with it, no issues

Didn't go with the Joying, but love the look of my oversized floating screen. Fit and finish looks extremely high end.

I ended up going with the Pioneer NEX8600. Extremely happy with it so far. It just works, which is what I wanted.

I originally wanted to get the 8600 but based on the reviews and price of the joying, I figured I'd try it out. Brandon seems to have had good luck with his. We'll see, it should be here next week.

Whole setup wasn't cheap, but I didn't want to have to tinker with anything once i got everything put back together. Originally I was leaning toward the tesla-style full size screens, but had several people tell me if I didn't want to constantly be tinkering with it then I should go a different route.

Teaser for tomorrow......stay tuned. Thanks @BrandonL812 for the install assistance! Thanks to everyone else who helped me select a head unit. This thing is pretty sweet so far.

@Beau does this unit work with your factory reverse camera or do you have to get joying version?

It was a long weekend and @BrandonL812 and I had multiple chats back and forth but it's done. The factory camera is working but it leaves much to be desired due to being non high defScreen Shot 2021-09-12 at 12.10.00 PM.jpg IMG_6877.jpg IMG_6887.jpg . Additionally, in order to retain the factory cam, you'll need the Toycam2-6v since the joying wiring leaves a ton of interference and is black and white (most likely due to not having a voltage converter). As you see from the pics, this unit is offset and lifted. This is because the shroud provided does NOT fit the dash correctly and when installed as they intend, the screen makes contact with the dash and can not be completely installed without sticking out 1" which looks BAD. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome. The screen is beautiful, bright, and very responsive (feels like iPhone). The OS is snappy and the sound is WAY better than the pioneer that it replaced. On the pioneer, if I turned it way up it became distorted. Not this one. Hopefully it'll last a while! Let me know what you guys think!

No issues thus far, trying to figure how to get it to auto connect each time I get in the truck though.

Plug and play with this. The joying harness came with the adapter plug but it didn't work correctly. It looked like this. Brandon directed me to the Toycam and it worked way better.

It supposed to auto connect after the initial paired. I havent mess with it much. But when i did, it try to auto connect everytime i start the truck. Which annoys me because i dont use carplay much. I tether internet instead. keep playing with it and you’ll figure it out soon.

Weird, this one does exactly like you want then. Only goes into CarPlay if you push the "carlink" app. I've tried it a lot and the outcome is always the same.

Huh that’s disappointing. Looks like I got to get their version then? And was also hoping that it look a little more flush with the dash. Does it look like we can cut it n modify some bit for a better fitment?

Have you try leaving the carlink app running in the background?

I think its better to offset it for a flush fit. It would be a bit of a hack job to get the dash right and then it wouldn't look factory with the modification. It looks factory enough to me and sits flush with the dash.IMG_6891.jpgIMG_6894.jpgIMG_6893.jpgIMG_6892.jpg

Once connected (after power up and pushing the app) it goes between CarPlay and the android OS seamlessly. It just doesn't start on it right away.

Did you order this straight from their website or somewhere else? By any chance does this come with the 6GB+128GB option too
