Hoping next gen (2024+) Tacoma will be a good replacement for my 2001 first gen Tundra

I am hoping the next gen Tacoma will be a good replacement for my first gen Tundra. I briefly considered the current gen Tacoma. Compared to my first gen, I felt the cabin was a little too small and did not care for the powertrain (V6/auto). The current and 2022+ Tundras are too large for my taste. Anyone else hoping the next gen Tacoma will be a suitable replacement? I have a 2001 with 226,000 miles. I love my old truck but realize it is not going to last forever.

Can anyone think of anything that has gotten better over time? Find a t100. The ‘tech’ in new trucks is a major turn off.

Well, it depends on what you're looking at. I mean, crotch rockets have gotten a lot better.

I think the Tundra has gotten better in a lot of ways with time but they are just not at all what they were in the beginning either and that is what drew me to them too.

Personally, I think the FGT is better than the T100. After the first gen though, it kinda went downhill a bit.

I'm thinking the guy who designed the Tundra for the US, wanted to make a big impression and he did.

Yea, but a t100 is a better truck than the next tacoma. *most likely*

If the 2024 Tacoma doesn't have a V8 option then it won't be a suitable replacement.

But beyond that, if it has a plastic bed instead of a full steel one, I sure as hell don't want it.

The Gen1 Tundra was the perfect blend of power and options in a smaller form factor. Granted, it looked like an F150 mated with a T100, but at least it doesn't look like a short-bus-sized late model cross between a Dodge Ram and GMC Sierra like the 3rd gens do, so that's a plus.

I highly doubt it will have a V8. I am just hoping the next gen Tacoma is a little bigger in the cab area and has a better powertrain than the current gen. I love my first gen but eventually it will need to be replaced.

Nah, that's a defeatist attitude. There's almost nothing you can't do to your 1st gen that won't make it just as useful as one of the newer trucks.

Besides, who wants to go in debt with loans or barf up the cash to pay outright for a new truck when you've got one of the best, most sought-after trucks around?
