I have to agree with you, the ZR2 has a more refined interior experience than the bad phone photo leaks we have seen of the red Tundras. Hopefully it looks better in real life and the new soon to be released form and maybe the Pro has a better interior. I like the outside of the new Tundra much better especially if one would add an aftermarket “off road” worthy bumper.

If a guy is willing to put in new lifters and disable AFM, those engines are as close to bullet proof as you can get short of a Toyota 3UR-FE. Stay on top of oil changes and keep very clean oil in them and you can probably retain the AFM.

By that picture it looks like when you're done driving it you can fold the screen down over the vents and fold it up when you want it .

Well it's not going to move. Our 2020 RAV has the same type design on a much smaller scale and it works out good. You get used to it pretty quick. After you use it for a few days you start to see how its better than the integrated types. Hard to explain but you dont have to move your head down to look at and I like to grab the top to stabilize my hand when using the touch screen which is nice on bumpy dirt roads. I wish you could grab all the way around it like my lowrance chartplotter on my boat. I think folks are going to prefer this type setup once they use it for a few days.

Great looking Tundra. But not everyone wants to spend $65-70k on a truck just to spend another $5-15k on after market parts.

I couldn't agree with this more, but I figured this was the case. GMC site has this as the Zr2 interior. If it's not a manual it should be on the column or at least give an option on the cool trims. I want the 6th seater, heck a manual cummins had a 6th seat option in Laramie trim.

You can get them without afm right now because of the chip shortage. Best time to scoop one up if going that direction.

While I agree, a slow roll out is a bad move, I don't think it was Toyota's original intention. I'm fairly sure the supply issues caused by "events that cannot be discussed here" are a big factor in the slow reveal and production. Look at Toyotas past releases, and none were done in this way. They certainly didn't want to replicate the Bronco mess where everyone was super jazzed and excited, but lost interest because the new wore off before the first one was ever available. So, instead, they opted to a crawling release of details to see if it would be received/perceived better than the Bronco was. I'd say it's doing a better job of maintaining buzz than the Bronco, but it's been far from a good model. They would have been better off announcing that they were delaying the Tundra and would not be releasing anything until they could meet a reasonable production schedule. Might have taken a hit to stock values for that, though.

Nothing wrong with it, but it seems the new trucks are moving towards tuned coil suspensions. Even Toyota and Ford moved in that direction,

Anyone notice the lack of terrain selector on the non-pro photos vs the pro? Seems like there will be a locker on the pro with terrain and maybe hill descent on the pro but not on the other trims. There is just glossy black plastic beside the drive mode knob.

Might only be on TRD Off Road and Pro, similar to how the 4Runners are set up.

As always, speculation is fun, but best not to fret until things are officially announced.

That big patch of shiny black is also where the 4WD switch sits in the official photos, so this might be a 2WD interior.

I love that Chevy released an all new refreshed V8 within 2 weeks of Toyota's V6 and a base I4 that has insane torque numbers.

Toyota has to be a little unsettled by that release. Chevy stole their thunder and delivered some really good headlines.

At this point I want to see Toyota fail with this release. I feel like they leading us on and are leaning too hard on the reliability piece and not enough on style or relevance. Not to mention the TRD pro price and "what you get" aspect have always annoyed me.

I mean, I hope it does indeed rattle Toyota. Don't get me wrong (I feel like I say this a lot) - I'll take reliability over power any day of the week; it's not like the 5.7L is sh*t. It may not be as 'advanced' as the 5.0, 5.3, etc., but if I had to pick any one of them to bet on (and I did), it'd be the 5.7L. My two previous trucks were Fords and the one prior to that was a Chevy...and I had plenty of issues with the truck, if not with the engine itself. So reliability is a BIG freaking deal. And based on what I'm hearing, reliability-wise, from both Ford and GM/Chevy, I'm not at all concerned about my choice. LOL

But I sure hope it unsettles Toyota to the point where they throw some more money @ R&D. There's no reason they can't at least replicate what others have, and add reliability to it.

Do you really want an engine that is cranked to the max? We've seen how much higher the 3.5 EB can go so you know that engine is no where near being pushed to the limit in OEM configuration, but a 2.7 getting into that range is either asking for the turbos to do a lot or it's pushed to its limit. Neither is good for reliability.

400 HP and 400 lb ft of torque is tons in a half ton - anything more is just about a measuring contest, not actual functionality. It was the exact same thing in the HD diesel wars - 800 lb ft of torque was insane, now they're cranked to well over 1000. Is it any more functional, nope, just a fancy number to sell to those who only read brochures.

Look, lots say "new crap breaks" so they buy a Tundra. BUT then they go mod their truck with all that "new crap" themselves.

Chevy brought some serious heat to this fight and I for one love it.

This is what happens when Toyota sits on their hands with this painfully slow roll out. It just gives the competition the opportunity to leap frog over them which is very possible what GM just did.

I would be a liar if I didn't admit the zr2 interests me greatly. Big V8 and front and rear lockers... That being said, I don't have faith in the reliability of Chevy products and reliability trumps all.

Agreed. I wanted to love the 6.2 Trail Boss. All the issues they’re having pushed me to Toyota. My truck is slower and less efficient. So what. It will get me home from remote areas every time.

I like the ZR2. And again, competition is great. But I think that truck is perfect example of trucks looking like a comic book artist designed them. Everyone’s doing it; I’m not picking on Chevy. Trucks are just starting to look a bit cartoonish to me.
