Android Headunit

Any info on the software? That seems to be the let down of the Tesla screens. I'll check this one out thx. You guys always know when I have money to spend..

EVERY one of these tablet style Android head units are Chinese made POS! People are drawn to them because they are inexpensive and appear to have a number of amazing features, but in reality they are incredibly buggy, unresponsive, and offer terrible audio performance when compared to a head unit manufactured by a legit car audio company like Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, etc.

 

So, playing devil's advocate here, you have owned and professionally tested every Chinese made headunit to determine that they are POS? Just curious. You do realize that most digital electronics are made in China, including many of the products from Alpine, Kenwood and Sony. Unless of course you are making an exception for products designed and inspected by companies from other countries. But then we have to factor in that many of these Chinese companies patent-infringe, reverse-engineer and/or downright copy their designs from successful companies, like the ones you listed. So are the products using copied designs from "legit" companies also crap, or just unethical? Enlighten us, I'm sure we'd all love your expert opinion. Seriously.

 

i finaly got my PX6 today , friday it wil be built in
i will keep you posted on how i feel the damn thing is, the first glance of it was amazing, ac knobs on it

i got mine and installed , the only thing is it sometimes lightup my lights in the dashbord , its because of the radio and i have no clue how why or what. waiting for support with automotive and see what they say

 

Wire shorting out? Check the ground wires, and connections.

 

Also remember that these head units are alot harder on the battery, have your battery checked also if it's the stock unit.

When i installed mine i ran the battery down a few times, thats all it takes if it's on its last legs.

I cancelled my order with Phoenix and bought a Linkswell unit with Sergey update, could not be happier.

 

I have the Linkswell Gen 4. I was considering getting the Sergey firmware, but I feel like I can never get a straight answer from anyone as to what the firmware does from a functional standpoint. I couldn't care less about any themes or other aesthetic aspects. One problem I have with the Linkswell that I don't have on my wife's Android HU, which is Android 10, is that I can't seem to get tasker to split screen reliably (perhaps because the unit is Android 8.1). What functional improvements do you feel make the firmware worth it? Are you using Tasker for anything on the HU?

 

Still happy with the Linkswell unit? I'm a noob here and have heard about the Sergey update but am not clear what that includes. I assume it has a to do with the interface/firmware? Considering putting one of these in my truck but trying to get more info on this combination first. Thanks.

 

Does anyone in here upgrade to Tesla Style Android 11 HU? I'm having problem with setting.

When they say, "Plug and play. NO wiring required." what exactly does that mean? Does that mean that the unit literally plugs directly into all of the factory harnesses exactly like the Entune head unit does? There's no additional wiring harness needed?

If you buy the correct HU for your year/make/model, then yes, it will plug right into your existing harness. If you want to get fancy, like keeping the oem microphone, you'll have to do some splicing.

 

Will any of these units work for a 2021?

 

I ordered thier newest version. Watched a few recent install videos and user videos. Looks like they have worked out a few kinks. I can update when I receive it and get installed.

 

My new unit is on its way been waiting for over a year.

 

Why such a long wait?

 

I have no idea but its the newest model 6gb/128 on its way i asked tat yesterday when i called they mentioned that needed some updates bull sh@t

 

Ordered mine last night.... we shall see how long it takes. Super stoked

 

It's been 9 days and nothing other than I paid. No shipping as of yet and I was quoted 15 days

Those whom are rocking this unit, can I get honest feedback? I'm a samsung junky so foreign electronics are fun to tinker with and good in my opinion.

 

Installed my new unit over the weekend, cant get the sim to work, other than that everything else seem to work well, mine came with rca's for a aftermarket system which i wrote down as something i wanted when i preordered it last yr. Still trying to get hang of features thinking about ordering tv tuner, ohhh also i cant down load netflix, lol.... Waitimg on some parts from Amazon to be able to hook up my factory gps to unit.
