Haven't had it happen. But I'd go 1 of 2 routes next oil change.
    1. Buy an aluminum oil filter housing and swap out that one.
    2. When taking off the housing, set it up in a vice or something to hold the housing and get that plug piece off....carefully

How’d you go about that? I vaguely remember seeing something before.

Check the build link in my signature.
Yes - when the techs at the dealer ship decide to use that square drive and an impact to put your filter housing on.

I did that too when purchasing all of my late model Toyota’s. I’ve been a motorist for decades without it. I’m all about right to privacy. It probably still transmits anyways. Lol.

Nice! Definitely going to do that for peace of mind, or at least make it more difficult on their end to sell, track, share all my information.

Dropped her off at the dealer a few hours ago to have the fuel pump recall and a vin verification done. Hope all goes well since there’s a guy on here that reported them forgetting to reconnect the fuel tank filler hose after he had his done. What a disaster!

    Unsolicited advice:

I still have a service contract too; but there are a few threads about these, and I'll likely be including them in my toolbox/on the truck when that ends:

This was completed a couple days after this post. Just kept forgetting to take a picture. These tires made my stock ones look like matchbox car tires.

Removed front mud flaps. Installed coach builder bumper shims and pushed liner forward.

Perfect amount of poke. Also installed my SS3 Pro fog lights.

Set the cruise for 79 on the way home. Didn't think to check speed on my phone gps for awhile. Ended up was going 83-84. So... Hypertech speedometer calibrater.

I have to order these. I put Diode Dynamics bulbs in, and it hosed up keyless smart entry. Now I have two 92 lumen 194 bulbs that'll net me $10 for returning. If anyone has a 3rd-gen with manual door locks, they can have them.

I noticed a little more growl but didn't get a chance to stomp on it in the neighborhood.... On a positive note nothing fell off either...

Just a side note...my neighborhood is a Tundra neighborhood... there are 9 Tundra's and prolly more than that Tacoma's... A lot of 4runners and Highlanders... Better than 2 to 1 Toyota to Ford. But there are too many Kia's to count...HUGE Kia dealer about 1.5 miles away...

Installed the tailgate lock. I used the video that @TBoe1776 shared, thanks for that, man. Took me about 45 minutes. Most of that was fighting with the one tab on the passenger kick panel, it’s still not attached. I gave up and will look at it another day. Super easy instal overall.
