I understand to some degree toning it down but after three years of owning a black '19 TRD Pro and switching to a '21 Limited Army green I personally can't see the practicality and the cost expenditures to justify all the deletion both inside and out. I know it's blasphemous and there will probably be lots of writhing over this but who else here is not averse to chrome accents?

No aversion from me. Like I've mentioned about other things, it's simply an aesthetic preference.

    1 - sun glare
2 - It is not real chrome. Back when chrome was metal it was stylish classy and expensive. Now it is cheap, bubbles and peels. It is plastic coating. I pull chrome off my 2020 and replace the peeling stuff on my 2008.
3 - I do not hate it. With some colors some chrome looks very nice.

Anyone who says "I can't see myself in a chrome truck." is lying ....or blind.

Chromeophobia? Sounds like something some overly sensitive Chromaholic would call people with a differing opinion. My body, my choice. :homer:

No offense taken and if I had my druthers I wouldn't go with much chrome, it's just a pain and expense in my book to delete/replace and I am not going to bother with. I guess if I had more time to bother with it maybe I would. It honestly seems like an obsession but to each their own. Definitely a first world issue.

Wrapping the chrome is probably the cheapest option, not sure what the color match would be for AG.

I've seen people paint the chrome (both plastic and metal) but I'm not sure of the long term durability.

I did some initial inquiry into having it wrapped and other than using black it won't match and isn't inexpensive. As much as I like a good looking vehicle it's still a truck.

I do like chrome. I think it has its place, also preference. I embraced the chrome for a long time on my truck. Then slowly I started getting rid of it. I still have chrome bumper ends, and they will probably be staying until I splurge on some high clearance bumpers. At least my chrome bumpers are a more chip resistant than painted ends. On tight trails, I have had to stuff the bumper into a bush or two, was glad they weren’t painted at that point. I can appreciate a good looking truck with chrome trim as well as a color matched. Times change and so does my tastes. Plus when I started swapping chrome out, it gave my truck a whole new look and refreshed my enthusiasm for it.

Everything started at several hundred and because of that I didn't pursue too much specificity. It's the temporariness of the treatment that turned me off.

If you just do the end caps its shouldn't be more than $300 bucks but it depends on your area. The other option is BumperShellz, one of the vendors here on the forums. Basically plastic covers for your chrome pieces but not super cheap either when you consider replacements.

I'm not a fan of vinyl myself. Ive had a few vehicles fully wrapped; in high traffic areas wraps start degrading after a year or so even with proper care. At best you may be able to get 3 years if properly maintained.

Old school chrome that is actually metal like on classics is fine. The plastic chrome crap on cars these days just looks chintzy. It always reminds me of that guy who gets the NAPA or AutoZone catalog and accessorizes his ride like a 7 year old girl with her barbie...

My all-time favorite is the army green TRD pro double cab. For me personally it’s just not worth all the money and trouble to try and get it to look that way. But that’s just me. Before I spend that kind of time and money I’d invest into a rugged third party off-road bumper which as tempting as it is once again for me wouldn’t get any use other than aesthetics.

I don't particularly like it, but some colors look horrible with it and it's mostly the newer matte/subdued looking colors. The Cement actually looks like two different colors between chrome and non.

I can live with my bumpers and emblems, but to me going to the color match surround and pro grill made my truck much more sleek looking.

Nobody will likely admit it (maybe because they don't recognize it) but herd mentality comes into play. My gut feeling tells me that those who visit this forum are more likely to de-chrome their Tundra than those who do not visit this forum (or any other Tundra/Truck forum). Baa baa....

Black and Chrome looks sick in the right spots. That being said, tThere's a very fine line between too little and not enough chrome.

It will be required on all ICE vehicles in the near future as a way to offset the vehicle's carbon footprint.

I see guys here having them wrapped for $300. Bumpershellz unpainted are about $330 and will last a lot longer.

My .02 is chrome doesn't go off road well. My 94 chevy s10 back in high school had chrome accents and i liked it. My tundra and 4runner go off road when ever I have the time and as such have no chrome. Nothing better then seeing a truck with 37" mud terrains on deep dish chrome 20's knowing full well that trucks never been anywhere but the mall.
