I enjoy my Ruger SR22, they make a model with a threaded barrel. Can’t get that here as we are a no can state

I got a Ruger Charger a couple of months ago, and put a Franklin Armory binary trigger on it. It's really fun.



If you don't mind the larger frame, it'll get the job done. It's basically a 10/22 with an 8" threaded barrel. I'll get a can once Texas and ATFE figure out this HB957 law (built in Texas, stay in Texas, exempt from NFA enforcement). I've only gotten to heat it up once, but I used a bag of random leftovers, and it didn't complain about any of it.

 

I’ve got a tricked out 10/22 that actually started life as the one I got for Christmas when I was 8. I thought about doing an 8” or 10” charger as a truck gun eventually.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on the NFA thing. Similar things have been tried - Montana tried to eliminate 4473’s in state, and I think it was KS or MO where someone tried to defend having several home-made cans under similar claims. In all cases, the Feds have said “nope.”

As for the binary trigger - not in WA unfortunately. I did get to run a “LE Sample” full auto 10/22 once with my can on it. So. Much. Fun.

 

On the list. Everyone I know that had one has had really good luck with theirs.

I’ve got the SWR Spectre II (from before the two companies merged). It’s my only commercial can…the wait was brutal, so I built my 30-cal and 45-cal ones.

 

Yeah - stupid expensive and basically unobtainium in WA (unless you owned it prior to 1993).

 

My next 2 cans are gonna be the dead air Nomad ti and a surefire QD 556

Too bad about the trigger. It's definitely not something you can toss into a holster, but it'd be a fun truck gun with or without the trigger.

Part of the new Texas law pushed for an immediate test in federal court, but I'm not optimistic either. On the off chance there isn't some flaw-correcting language in this bill that makes it more passable than previous 'hearing protection' attempts, I can wait the 3 or 6 months to find out. The suit hasn't been filed yet, but the law just went into effect 5 days ago. My charger already has an arm brace as well, which I may apparently have to get stamped at some point. I'm sure the ATFE would claim people's index fingers under NFA jurisdiction if they thought they could get by with it...
