Seeing that prices for used Tundras were insane, I decided to list mine for sale yesterday. I had lots of interest with offers but no one bothered to come by. Today finally I had a family come by and after a thorough inspection and test drive and some negotiation I accepted their offer. I took a deposit and it will officially change ownership on Tuesday.
I got used to the truck and was a nice driving vehicle. I really ended up liking it. It cleaned up very nicely and it made a good impression on the buyers.
In the long run it wasn’t practical for me to drive every day.
I’m on the search for a Tacoma or even some AWD alternative that will be economical to drive.

I can't blame ya. I considering selling mine a few months ago to capitalize on the current market. Decided not to bother though.

I was just talking to a guy about first generation Ford Escapes that we both previously owned and liked. If I could find an early model with the 2.0/manual/AWD for cheap I'd probably buy it. The later one I had with the 2.3 got 27mpg on the highway loaded down. Of course you could buy a Rav4 or CRV too, but the toyota and honda taxes suck.

Or buy an import. Lots of old Hiluxes, Pajeros, landcruisers, space vans, jimnys, and other cool japanese stuff available now.

Buy '90ish hilux diesel and it would last forever until the government makes internal combustion illegal. Probably cost you what you got for your '07 Tundra, or maybe more though.

I knew a couple who bought a 1st gen Escape and it was terrible. They regretted ever buying it. They were having lots of problems with it. They only bought it since their family was growing and their near mint '75 Ford Hi-Boy was not practical anymore. They sold it to buy the Escape. :(
I have a real dislike for Fords though I did get lucky with the '01 Crown Vic Interceptor. That was the best Ford I've ever owned. Every other Ford that was '85 or newer have been junk.
I might look into an Rav4 or a Matrix. The transmissions in CRV's I've heard are a weak link.

Just curious how much you sold it for. With the market today, I have no idea what you would get.

You do not want the CVT that they stuck in that thing, but that was around 2015 I think.

I'm SE of Seattle and I have an 06 CRV I'd part with...

I saw an 08 with 9K or 19K miles listed for 28k in CT. What do you think they were smoking before deciding on the price? How much did you sell yours for?

I'd like to wait until I have the cash in hand before I say but it looks like maybe I'm netting over 30% even including what I paid for tax, license, timing belt and snow tires.

The 3.0 autos were far more common in the Escapes and not as good. Some Fords are ok. You have to do your research before you buy jusy like anything else.

GM partnered with Toyota on the Matrix. You can probably find a Pontiac Vibe cheaper than a Matrix if you wanna ball on a budget for a while.

I sold my '07 RCSB, 5.7, 6-speed auto, 38K...Next pick up was a '17 Tacoma... size of the truck was excellent...easy entry and exit, smaller doors, beautiful handling and I thought it looked super! V 6 was "ok," now where near the power of the Tundra, gas mileage was only 15-16 {same as the Tundra), towing my small trailer or pontoon boat was good however, the transmission sucked....it was constantly shifting looking for a gear it liked. It shifted so much I usually ran it in manual mode. Finally traded it in for a 2020 crew cab TRD PRO. The Pro is BIG and a pain in the ass to get into a lot of parking spots but, power again, yes! Power again and plenty of it. Transmission is perfect, smaller doors than my RCSB. I can't believe Toyota is going to abandon the 5.7...That's one of the best features on a Tundra. Big mistake.

Good to see another owner actually using S Mode for it's intended purpose, rather than ignoring it!

My dad had an 05 Escape and the only problem he had with it was the bad fuel mileage . A guy at my work had one ( I think it was an 06 ) and he put over 800k on it without any problems which was amazing considering he didn’t do any maintenance on it .

I'm surprised the Tacoma V6 get's Tundra mileage. I might need to consider a banger. They're probably pretty gutless. My '86 4-Runner with automatic was a real dog. My '89 Xtracab with 2.4 and 5 speed wasn't too bad.

Check the build link in my signature.
Yeah, the Tacos really don’t do much better in mileage compared to the Tundra.
How long did you have the ‘07? Looks just like the ‘08 I traded in for my Pro.

what’s your fuel (electric bill) costs been per month since purchasing your Tesla?

I seen a Model 3 with most likely insane mode take off yesterday from a dead stop. Holy hell.

Yeah those things seem insanely fast. My former Crown Vic Interceptor was fast but a Tesla left me in the dust almost instantly.

Sorry to see you go. But you need to do what’s practical and sensible for you. Personally I can’t imagine getting rid of mine anytime soon. My first new vehicle ever. I was always against a new but at the time this was a better deal than a used truck. Mine is officially six years old as of March 1. Only 37,900 miles on it. If I had a longer commute, I would probably rethink that, or at least get a beater for daily purposes. But at the moment, I’m happy every time I see it in the driveway.

Good luck on your next move bro

I bet! I went to the dealer to pick up some brake pads on Saturday. Not one full-size pick up on the lot. It was actually crazy how few cars and trucks were on the lot. I think I saw one Tacoma TRD pro and one 4runner TRD pro. Their used inventory was sparse and the new inventory was even worse. It’s obvious why they would be paying so much to anyone willing to give up their truck. I was half expecting do to have someone come out and try to make an offer on mine. I must’ve looked like a needle in a haystack. There was plenty of parking LOL
