35s. Come on now. 37s are the new 35s. I wonder if I have to do a BMC and pinchweld mod to stuff 37s in there.

On the looks aspect of the new tundra. I’m not the biggest fan of how it looks with all the chrome or overall, but obviously many people on here delete the chrome out the gate or fully customize their rigs to make them more capable off-road and slap all kinds of armor and skids, different wheels and tires and grilles and lights. By the time you do that it will be an entirely different looking truck which I’m sure will look way better than the stock version of any of the models. I bought my inferno pro in 2015 and I didn’t think it looked the best stock, but I really liked the color and after I changed the grille, front bumper with winch, kings Oem shocks, bronze wheels and 37s, bed rack and RTT and removed all decals and tinted the windows it looks like an entirely different truck. So let’s just hope the numbers are world beating and let’s see what the aftermarket companies come up with to make the new tundra look better. Here is a before and after on my two rigs. This pretty much is the same with most vehicles. Even if you like the way a vehicle looks stock, there’s always parts to make it look better. I’m providing my two examples.

Well I Like It!!!. I like the color and style. I want a Double Cab and 6.5 foot bed.

Now, if it comes in a Plug In Hybrid I'll buy it day one. I like the red in the really clear picture it's like a Wine Red. The other photo, I think, Bright/Candy Apple red is because he took the picture through the window of his car.

I like the interior with the large screen and it looks like buttons for A/C, Radio, etc.

    Don't' hate me;)

Can anyone make out the name of the boat? There is a website you can put the name of a boat in and it will tell you where it is anywhere in the world. Get me the name and I'll try to find the website and I can tell you where the photo was taken.

I don't hate it and it will likely grow on me. Since we are likely looking at the 2040 model as well, I'll likely be getting this version and passing on my current Tundra to my kid.

The 5th gen 4runner (my favorite vehicle hands down) was initially so GD ugly I couldn't even look at it. Now I like them alot.

I don't think there will be aftermarket HD rear bumpers for this new Tundra since the rear bumper appears to be totally integrated with the bed.

It needs full color match more than ever to make it look good

otherwise it’s another mismatched materials look. Those little chrome inserts in the rear bumper are awful and so is the grey arch moldings.

I sure hope the platinum is full color match

Power is not quite there with 3.5 but deliver better fuel economy than the 4.0, automatic transmission hunts for gears.

    Overall reliability is still there.

My first impression of the 3rd gen after owning 2nd was the dramatic difference in power delivery at take-off

I end up going with the manual transmission on my 3rd gen which are equipped with bigger final drive and it was more manageable.

Glad I have the V8 now, going to enjoy it while I can.

Not loaded, just an honest question. Just because you guys don't like the engine's power band or the automatic transmission tuning doesn't necessarily mean it's not reliable.

There will be, but they will probably all be “high clearance” though. Like this bumper I have for my Tacoma.

i never owned a 3rd gen but did test drive them at one point back to back to back with a Frontier Pro4X, GMC Canyon V6, and Colorado Duramax. The Ranger was not out yet.

The Tacoma V6 was by far the worst. Even the old Frontier was nicer to drive. It wasn’t that the Taco didn’t have the power, it did if you rev’d it, but it was how it was tuned. Its not a truck motor. It was so bad that the truck would not hold 6th gear for me on a flat freeway because of a headwind.

My friend has a TRD OR and tows his 5000 lb wakeboard boat in NH with it and said its terrible.

I don't think trucks need to be pageant worthy and just need to be trucks that can work, play at times and are reliable. If the new mechanicals work out with the new Tundra then good. I still believe the fancifications and mechanicals that are bringing the price points to the same as the domestics is a sign of a bygone era where pretty and posh has taken over practical, cost effective and just fine. I am in the camp if it ain't broke then don't fix it and they held that ground for all intents and purposes for 14 years. For that I commend them for holding that ground for as long as they did. I am also one of those that believe one of the best engines ever made was the Ford 300cu in straight six from back int 90's. Nothing fancy, not fast but easily a 300k engine that was bullet proof and just ran and ran. I reiterate, I am glad I have my '21.

My first F-150 had vinyl seats and a rubber floor and I could hose it out when it was dirty. I am pretty sure it had drains in the floorboard.

I too value performance/reliability over looks, but I'd never downgrade to a bad looking vehicle that on top of being ugly it doesn't have a V8 :p

Can’t speak for others but in 2016 I went to trade my 2008 Taco for a new one. Drove the new one and hated it immediately due to lack of power and the infamous transmission hunting. Bought a Tundra and never looked back.

The person I quoted suggested the 3rd gen Tacoma was unreliable. I much preferred driving my Tacomas over the Tundra in the city, but that doesn't make the Tundra unreliable.

I own a '21 Taco and find the power to be a little weak and wasn't expecting more for obvious reasons.
It was a quick trade/flip without losing $$.
As for the transmission it's really not much worse than any other auto I've driven considering it's doing everything possible to make up for the lack of torque. Be glad they didn't destroy the Taco with a CVT.
It's honest tow rating should be closer to 3800lbs max imho and probably a blast for crawling around off road or exploring.
Fine truck for a small/mid size if you're not on the taller side or require slightly higher capacity and why it's turning into a Tundra within 2 weeks.

I did not I'm still rolling my 2012 taco, I decided not to move into the 3rd gen after friends of mine had issues with there's. My 2nd gen has been a decent truck but not problem free, neither was my 2017 tundra but I'll be chastised for saying that on here.

Possible, but both Toyota trucks I have owned both had there share of issues. So I haven't experienced this golden nothing ever going wrong with my Toyota yet. This new tundra is way more sophisticated and from what I read hard to work on so yes I think there are going to be hiccups out the gate.

No hate bro. I just can’t see myself spending upwards to $70,000 for a truck that looks like that. It looks really long and somewhat thrown together with some weird angles. But to each his own.
