Backup camera system

I love my 1st gen 2006 Tundra Limited, but sorely miss not having a backup camera. I'm just now starting to research after market possibilities and thought my first stop should be here where I can hopefully tap into the experience of members who have "been there, done that." I'm hoping to find a quality "kit" that uses a rear-view mirror as the camera's screen (I don't want to install a screen in the dash where the OEM radio belongs). I just got the Pormido 2 cam 12". So far seems well built and works well. There are plenty of cheaper ones, but I wanted the forward cam to not be some cheesy looking thing sticking off the side of the mirror.

A setup like this would be the best option if you don't want to replace the OEM stereo. However, I think in the future you are going to wish you would of replace the OEM stereo because of the bluetooth option and also the LARGER display when you are backing up. I had a factory backup camera display the image in the OEM mirror on my 2008 and it was hard to really see as compared to the larger display output when I replace the OEM stereo.

 

I still use the HU for the tailgate cam on reverse. The point of the mirror is to have far superior rearview while driving. Tailgate cam would work for that, but would suck balls. The pormido literally eliminates my blind spots, I see the hoods of vehicles next to me out the side windows before the rear of said car has left the view of my rearview cam. Probably have to agree with @LittleTundra though, if you just want a backup cam, a HU screen is way better than the lil' oem mirror screens.
