Does your model year have Apple CarPlay? I've notice when mine is plugged in, it disconnects it from Bluetooth and says the phone isn't connected when I try to make a call using the steering wheel button. I think you just yell "Hey Siri! Make a f-ing phone call!" and call that way. Or try pressing the CarPlay screen. I haven't tried it because I hate talking on the phone and it saying the phone isn't connected is a nice excuse to get some "me time".

I don't have that issue using the Wireless Carplay, which I highly recommend.
