Many people seem to be interested in the CAT protection. Another thing to think about is if sliders will potentially be less compatible with the Valhalla shields.

Yeah, possibly depending upon how the sliders mount. But I wonder if you could just put the cat cover over the slider.

I'd imagine you could always shim or space it out and use longer hardware. Although I am unsure what size hardware is available- security bolt wise.

Sort of the same thing for me. My MIL and my mom both need a step to get into my truck. And even my youngest daughter is only 5’1”
    So steps it was…

Don’t get too hung up on security hardware. Having installed a set in my truck, it would be a significant pain in the ass to get them off even without security hardware. You’re going to need three different sets of wrenches and sockets, small hands, and a contortionist.

the typical smash-and-grab cat thief is gonna roll under there with his sawzall, see what’s there, and move on…

I agree. Didn’t even bother with the security hardware. It will take too much time to remove the bolts as-is. And if they try to sawzall it, the type of bolt you use won’t matter

Yes. I have the cat plates on order and have been reviewing the thread put together on which sliders work and which don’t. The C4 are said to bolt up without an conflicts with the cat plates.

I've been looking at them for three months, and still can't decide what I like best. I want something that blocks door dings, installs without drilling and looks decent.

A friend of mine drives an Expedition, and they have tried 6 different times to get his cats. He has had rebar welded over them, and they still keep coming back and trying. The Police told him that once the thieves get in their car they won't go after them (car chase), so they are very emboldened up here. For my own piece of mind I spent the extra $75 on hardware and cone washers.

The WKOR doesn't need to be drilled and bolted if not using as a true slider. I had power go out on me so I wasn't able to get all the holes drilled at the time of initial install. Still were just fine with preexisting holes. Very sturdy. I drilled them a few weeks later.

Yeah I've always said it doesn't matter what you do, if someone wants something bad enough they will take it. We can never truly protect anything. The best we can do is add layers of deterrents.

Just finished up with the 10" BAM install. It's surprisingly mild but will be great for the family and while in the woods. Hardest part was getting the chrome OEM exhaust tip off. That part mildly kicked my butt. Glad this truck has a little rumble now.20210901_122410.jpg

Is Spotify like Sirius where they have channels, or can you select the actual bands or cuts that you want to hear?

You can listen to any album you want and make your own playlists. Plus they make lots of playlists by genre.

I think their basic service is free but with commercials. Try it out. I pay $15ish a month for a family plan that gives eaxh of us our own account.

I download my playlists (and theirs) so I can listen offline.

What GT said. I also pay the $15/month for the family plan, which gives 6 people (living in your same address - just make sure everyone claims to be at your address when they sign up) their own account and access. You can share and follow other people’s accounts or playlists, make your own, and also use the radio functions. You can download to your device for offline play, and it’s super easy to use. Integrates great with the CarPlay stereo too.

I harvested my hazelnut crop! First year we got nuts. A total of 19. We lost 4 to critters and I think 4 are probably duds, so when I have our harvest party, we’re gonna all get about 1 1/2 nuts each! (I’m gonna share with my grandkids and son and his wife)

The SDHQ sliders don’t require any drilling and can lift the side of a loaded truck.
Btw Tim, I have pictures of your truck and Loki on my website, lol

Those look very similar to the ones I had on my Jeep. Price is higher than most others out there, might be due to better finish and materials?

    Yep, shipping sucks.

I think I might order the Cali Raised LED ones. I can get a full aluminum top plate that is Line-X while the sliders is power coated. Full bolt on as well and compatible with the Vahalla shields. Just signed paperwork to buy the carpet my wife wants which is way more than sliders so hopefully I won’t get slapped along side the head by her too hard.

Thanks for the tip on Costco carpet @Green Thunder.:hattip: Their price beat the local guy by a healthy margin for an equal if not better carpet and the rebate from Costco will cover a couple Costco runs for the family.

Very nice. That’s our coffee of choice (subscription) too.

Funny story… was jamming some tunes the other day with my ear buds in. A text mssg came in so Siri read it to me. “Credit card charge of one hundred fifty nine dollars and zero cents was made by JLT…”. Oh, I know what I’m getting for my birthday!

    @Green Thunder
JLT says to use the stock bolt here on the Rad, it's too short to go through the bracket and back in to the square nut. I used some 1/4-20 hardware I had in my nut bucket (o_O).
