Fox pro shocks install

I need some help. I have a shop installing the fox pro shocks. They are saying that the fox shock revisor is hitting the front sway bar and front axle. Can someone take a picture on how there shocks are or how that can be resolved

Because my truck is a 2015 does the fox shocks not work on this year? Did they change something for the 2020/21 model?

 

The shop sent me this photo of the axle hitting the shock

 

It may slightly rub if the suspension has no weight, is basically unloaded. Is the truck on the ground, weight on the suspension, or on a lift in the picture?

Check vid at 1:33 for a shot that looks similar to yours, is tight clearance for sure.

only other thing I can think of, there could be some difference side to side, so the coils are likely marked for which side of the truck they should be installed on.

 

They are side specific, it looks like the reservoir on yours is angled backward, swapping it to the other side would angle it forward and away from the axle.

 

If that is true, and I believe it is, I would be worried about the "tech"

 

OP needs to get a picture of the top of the reservior, it says the side on it.

 

Yeah, I would triple check that boot afterward as well.

 

I don't know about the Fox shocks, but the previous version Bilstein Pro shocks had RF and LF in the part number to tell you which side they go on. Agreed with everyone else that the shop has them on the wrong sides.

It does appear that the reservoir is facing the wrong way in the pic the shop sent you. It is supposed to face outward toward the tire. There is an R and an L at the top under the bolt. The L is directly under the bolt for the coilover that goes on the left side, and the R is directly under the bolt for the coilover that goes on the right side. Refer to pic...

If that's all it is and if they can't figure that out, I would triple check their torque on every bolt they touch when they're done and never take anything to them again.

 

I can’t thank you guys enough! You are all a life saver to me! I been trying to get these shocks installed for months. All it was is they had them reversed. It’s strange because this shop only deals with Toyota but they mainly do tacoma and 4runner work. He is a well known Toyota repair guy in my area. I don’t want to put down the shop because they did make it right. Thank you again for all your input

 

Sorry to say if a shop couldn’t figure out Driver side to Passenger side I wouldn’t let them touch my truck at all. Sorry

 

OEM suspension on 4Runners and Tacomas are side-specific, just like the Tundra. The gas tank, battery, steering column, and driver are all on the left side of these vehicles, and Toyota compensates for the added weight so the vehicle doesn’t sag on the drivers side.

Anyone who works on Toyotas should know that. I’m not trying to put the guy down or saying he doesn’t do good work; it is just a big red flag to me that he didn’t figure that out, especially since these coilovers are labeled L and R at the top. I’d avoid that shop in the future. No need to leave a bad review or anything. I just wouldn’t trust him. Just my personal opinion.

 

Not trying to change this thread but is that true about all Tundra suspensions being side specific. If I install the Off Road Bilsteins are they labeled left and right and if so where will it say that

 

For those you look at the springs - they are marked with paint dots to indicate which side. I think yellow is passenger and blue/red is passenger, but do your homework on your specific setup. Yes. The shocks are the same part numbers, but the springs are different to account for the extra weight on the driver’s side. From a different thread:

 

I am putting these shocks on my 2013. I have the speed sensor relocation bracket.
Do I need a carrier bearing drop kit or diff drop kit or any other parts?
New bump stops?
