Saturday with the grandkids at the new-ish ballpark (Texas Rangers). Sunday at dad's. he knows how to fix a guy up.

I simultaneously love and hate doing research for toys and purchases.

The fun of window shopping is always there. Cars, ATVs, mods, gear, etc. are all fun to go over and research. Then the reality kicks in. The budgeting, locating, testing (or trying to find somewhere to test), and the eventual hit of purchase or passing over an item.

That's on par with the first of the grey hairs. It just means you're reaching the age of refinement.

Unless you're still in your 30s or something; then it means you sat too close to the TV as a kid.

 

I’m many years into the gray hair phase. But I have just leveled up for sure.

 

I've got the greys, too. Started at about 33 or 34. Lots of people were like "Oh ho ho! Look at you! Going grey! You're getting old!" and they were thinking it would be a way to tease me or something. It just never bothered me, though. I've felt old since I was 28, so finally getting a few grey hairs was just par for the course to me. Never quite understood people worrying about stuff like that.

 

Eyes are wierd. 30 years ago I needed correction in both eyes. Then bifocals. Now, my left eye is 20 yo again and I need minimal correction in my right eye. Hair, well there's some gray and I got sunburn on my scalp this year. First time ever. But you have to live long enough for that, I'm good

 

Yeah, I got about 4 today. My eyes are gritty and burning, but it's my Friday, so lack of sleep can't get me down!

 

Yep. Your eyes are always changing. Diet plays a role too. Just ask any diabetic.

Buggers are everywhere. They go near the Tundra and it’s time for some Aussie payback

 

A high power pellet rifle or a 17HMR makes short work of them. I think they're cute as hell, and would never bother them out in the wild, but they are so destructive on properly. Bad for any kind of cables or wiring for vehicles or homes, terrible for roofing, etc. Makes me glad I have no trees in my yard.

 

Bastards are everywhere around here.

 

Sounds like my last two nights.

I took a wrong turn (not really) yesterday coming south from Arlington (WA) and ended up taking a detour on I90 over to North Idaho to pick this up:


Just got home and got the burn-in done…

There are two dealers in the Seattle area - both were sold out. Factory estimated shipping at 2-3 months. The only other dealer in the NW is an Ace Hardware in Athol, ID.

I actually drove all the way into Montana and surprised my folks - stayed the night there and then headed back this morning stopping to pick up the grill.

I was already planning to go get it within the next two weeks - being in Seattle area shaved about 2 hours off the drive east.

 

So Casey's parents are enjoying a nice day together. Pleasant company, a nice dinner, and the mood is right. They start feeling like they're kids again, and things are progressing in ways they haven't for years. Pulses quicken, that special look in their eyes, and .... the front door pops open "Surprise! Mom, Dad, I'm home!"
