Anyone found black door handles for the 2021?

Anyone found matte black door handle overlays for the 2021? Are they worth it or should I just replace the entire assembly?

 

Just get the actual handles you want, black, chrome or color match, not an overlay. You can often find used take offs locally, check marketplace here or buy new- sparksparts

The swap is super easy, can do all 4 in less than half hour.

Takes a little longer on a ‘21 because the front doors have the sensors - you have to pull the door panel and get inside the plastic to the wiring connectors.

the front handles are also a bit more $$$ for that reason too

 

Pretty rare to find takeoffs in black or body match. All the ones I’ve seen have been people getting rid of the chrome.

I just ordered new ones from Sparks.

 

Can anyone point me towards the handles with the smart key? I’m not having any luck searching the inter-web.

However if you want matte black handles then you should try searching for 2021 TRD Pro handles from a dealer like Lewis Toyota of Topeka Kansas and see if it is a little less expensive.

 

YouTube has a vid of a guy swapping it out. Not a quick swap like those without smart. Inside door panel has to come off and you need to slice one the protective film barrier, unplug, remove, insert new handle, reconnect then reseal the film/plastic barrier and put the door panel back on and your good to go!

It’s definitely doable but takes some time, probably an hour+. If the passenger side doesn’t have smart then it will take you 15-20 minutes for the other 3 doors.

Hmm…something to think about for sure. I don’t know if the smart handle is only on the drivers like on my Tacoma or both sides. Hope it’s only the drivers side.

Not sure if a paint shop could color match while in place, probably not, so the passenger side if not smart, I know is a breeze to remove. I’ll ask if he can paint it after I remove them then reinstall the original handles. Can’t imagine I’d have to get replacements.

So many questions…lots of stuff on the “to do” list.

 

I’m going by my Tacoma. It only has it on the drivers side. I have to use the clicker if I’m on the passenger side.

I don’t have the truck yet, it’s in “transit” and should land 9-17th-22nd. So I won’t know until I take custody.

 

Or just go grab the passenger handle and see if it unlocks?

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking for the attitude black door handles and the only part that I can't find is the key hole cover on the drivers door. Does anyone have the part number for this?
