Yep. Winds shifted so North Idaho is getting hit from the Priest Lake fire. Not super bad visibility wise but is enough for one's eyes to start burning while mtn biking (Sandpoint area).

I’m on the East coast and about two weeks ago our visibility was poor from wildfires out west. I can’t imagine how bad it is out there for you guys!

How was the riding out of Salmon?

Our trip was a bust. 95-100f and the smoke was horrible, I heard Hamilton was bad also. We were getting ash and burnt pine needles falling on the trucks. We came back a week early.

Sorry to hear about that. Our trip was Great! We had rain two nights and rain two days in some areas. The smoke on the second to the last day was really bad. Fires were close to Salmon, Mud Lick fire. I rode a total of 390+ miles in five days. The longest day was 107mi. I split the riding between two bikes. Others stayed another three days and said it was awesome!

That is awesome you had good riding. We are trying to find another spot to ride as some of the forests in northern Idaho are now closed. Completely closed, no motorized AND no foot traffic.

Brought my bike with me to visit my new nephew in Boise and then it’s back up through McCall today to ride with my brother. Silly bike barely fits in this rental truck haha.

Watched this earlier and thought I’d share — really cool video. Never heard of Hattah before, but it looks like a pretty awesome race.

I’m gonna need new tires soon. What brands / styles do you guys recommend?

I do a mix of motocross and trail riding. Here in AZ I run across all types of soil, from hard-packed rocky trails to sand, desert clay, etc. I’ve been debating between the Michelin Starcross 5 Medium, Bridgestone Battlecross X30, and the Maxxis Maxxcross EN. Thoughts / recommendations?

Ive always been using a Maxxis Desert IT tire.. its a harder rubber and doesnt chunk nearly as bad as other tires ive tried. I ride a lot of fast single track with softball sized rocks and its out lasts other tires two to one. They work okay and muddy motocross tracks but really excel in the single track, dry ,dusty, rocky stuff.

I’ve got the desert IT on both front and rear as well. It’s ok. I lot of guys I ride with here use the IRC gekkota which is better grip and still lasts fairly well. It will be my next tire to try

Look at the KTM lineup. They have models that venture away from the traditional motocross. I am thinking about going this route as my 450 is too much of a beast in PNW. The 350 thumper is 300 smoker is what I had in mind. Either way, the tranny I ratio on the “X” will make a difference.

Who do you guys recommend for graphics kits? I was looking on SKDA’s website and really like the look and variety of their kits. However, their customer reviews aren’t so great, so I’m reconsidering.

180 Decals is really good, motopro graphics is also good but they're super busy and might take awhile
