I wanted those but iirc a set of 5 was well over $1k. I'm thinking over Level 8 now. A set of 5 is like $830 and I can order em from discount tire when I order tires and put em on my discount tire card. Maybe even get some rebates. Oh and I do have fender flares. Thanks for the advice.

Getting caught up, buncha replies with a buncha topics here ....

In my world, we call that stuff "DO NOT EAT". Literally everyone I've worked with over the years knows exactly what you mean when saying, "Hey, chuck me a pack of DO NOT EAT."

There's some stuff you can buy at the store called 'Damp Rid' which is used in damp basements and crawlspaces. Comes in a tub. You put the tub where it's needed and leave it, it turns to thick liquid as it collects water. This is one of those times I'm super glad I have a dehumidifier though.

Oh, and buttload is one word. Not many people know 'butt' is a legitimate historical measure, I think many think it's a lewd version of boatload. or something.

Man, who could've possibly seen that coming? /s

First thoughts are lubing any connection point, but also wonder if it could be making dry contact with a boot where it passes thru the fw? I don't remember how the linkage works, and you might've already tried all this.

Actually on this point, I have a question for all of y'all.

When I start my truck, then step on the brake to shift out of gear, I feel and hear a hard 'click' at the brake pedal and can't shift into gear until that happens. Every couple dozen times, I can't shift into gear at all until I release and depress the pedal again. Does anyone else have this happen too? I assume there's a safety mechanism somewhere under the dash. I just wonder if what I'm describing is common or not.

It's weird, like, I can literally feel something disengage the pedal and make a "click" noise under the dash when shifting out of P sometimes.

I can replicate this every time if - with foot off brake pedal - I pull the lever towards me and hold pressure downward, then step on the pedal.

Literally feel something releasing down there. Sometimes need to release the lever entirely, release the pedal, then press the pedal in fully and shift.

Clearly there's a safety somewhere related to the brake pedal which won't let you shift unless you've fully depressed the brake pedal. Dunno what/where.

Not super worried about it, but ... thought I'd ask about it.

The shiftlock out is down by the brake pedal, maybe your feeling that?

    Parking paw can click too.

My memory might be messing with me, but theres a lockout in the steering of some cars, where if you park with tension in the steering, the key wont turn, and you have to countersteer a tad? Im sure ive had to show people how to fix this, but never thought about the mechanism that would actuate it.

am i crazy? Is that a thing?

    I park on flat land.

I'd take a video of it, but it just wouldn't translate, you really need to be able to see/feel the brake pedal actuating in tandem with the click to understand, I think.

Try putting the truck in neutral, applying the parking brake and then put it in park. See if the click doesn't occur on the next start after. If it doesn't it's the parking pawl disengaging under load doing the click.

Yeah my 16x8 have 0 offset 4.5bs and they fit ok with my 295/75s but rubbed frame on lock to lock so I got 1.25 spider trax. I'm still undecided on if I want 285/75r17 or 35x10.5 or 35x12.5 tires

Got a cv axle boot on the drivers side that’s torn and slinging grease. Went ahead and ordered a replacement 9550 TR from CVJRemans since I’m freaking up my front end . They specify that it doesn’t ship with axle nut or differential seal. Do I need to order new on those? Can anybody confirm part numbers?

I went back to the oem ones and raptor lined the chrome mirror cover. I would like my buddy to design (on his uncles CBC machine) an aluminum or plastic base adapter from the 2nd gen towing mirrors to fit our base but he doesn’t have the time for that kinda thing.

Welp, bit the bullet and ordered a CSF radiator this weekend. TB kit, 150a alt, thermostat and a few other goodies are up next. Leaving for a week or so this Friday so it'll be a little bit before I tackle the work.

There is a safety lock mechanism on all modern cars that prevents you from shifting out of park without pressing the brake. If you are pulling down slightly on the shift lever before pressing the brake pedal the shifter may be holding the release mechanism closed preventing you from shifting out of park. Be sure to completely depress the brake pedal before trying to shift out of park. Several threads in here from days past about someone trying the force the shift out of park and breaking the release mechanism. You could also experience an intermittent issue with this if the brake switch or release mechanism is failing.

Proceed with caution on the K&N filter. One of the worst mods you can make to any car. Those filters are for racing. The oil can gum up MAF sensors and they do not filter out the finer silica particles in the air. Silica = sandpaper = faster engine wear. Race cars don't care, the engines will likely be replaced or rebuilt at short intervals. My $0.02

If nobody else is experiencing hearing the lock/unlock of the mechanism, and the occasional difficulty shifting out of park, I probably need to dig on this to figure out what the part number is and where it's installed. It's totally possible the mechanism on mine was impacted by something stupid one of the previous two owners did.

I have one that came with my plastic intake tube setup (also from K&N).
I'm typically terrible at taking pics...but I drove my truck to work today, so I can try to snap a pic at lunch.

Over-oiled filters gum up MAFs. And they all come over oiled. Just have to soak out some of the oil and they work just fine.
I've used K&Ns for years and years and years without issue.
I've also found the oiled K&Ns outlast the dry filters like AFe. The oil is integral to the operation of the filter, but too much is a bad thing.

I hate stomping pedals, and oft don't push my brake very hard in the AM when I shift from park. The damned shifter won't move, so I release both and start over...pressing the pedal a bit further. It's not quite annoying enough for me to look further into it, but I have wondered if the interlock has a cable that's stretched.

Well shit, I'm just glad I'm not the only one. I swear I've felt (and heard) similar on previous trucks. The click sound I hear on mine when shifting out of Park is strangely similar to a milder version of the click you hear when stepping in on the parking brake and pulling the release lever. Maybe I can catch that on video. Not sure if I'll be driving anywhere today, though.

    That makes two of us.

I tried it as an experiment long ago, it really isn't worth the trouble. You have to make an adapter pipe for the maf to sit on and add a cone after. My truck ran weird with it for the day that I tried it so I threw that in the trash and went back to stock. It was a waste of a Sunday morning but the parts were free.

Save the hassle and either get a drop in lifetime filter or stick with the paper filters. The stock intake on these trucks is pretty well suited for the motor.

The K&N I have is technically a drop-in...but it did require some trimming of the ribs in the bottom to fit. Picture a cone stuck to a panel.
