We evacuated to baton Rouge for Gustav after wife's family said they were going there. So we left lake charles to go sit in a hurricane with certain members of her family. We spent some time outside in the hurricane to avoid certain people.

Yeah, only problem is ONE projection has it in the lower Cat 4 spectrum, but the rest has it square in a Cat 3.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely for a “prepare for the worst, pray for the best” mindset.

I say we ditch numeric scales and go for a coonass/redneck scale!
Simple but gets the point across!

    we can’t count anyways

Power keeps going in and out, tree came down and missed the AC unit by inches.
Wind is 50-70 miles an hr. Supposed to get gusts of 89. Eye is still 2 hrs away so we've got another 6-8 hrs of this.

If you're the praying type, say a prayer for everyone East of Baton Rouge, Hammond, Covington etc. they are getting plowed.

Glad we left, didn’t want the fam to have to experience this.
A 6 hour trip turned into 15 hours due to serious traffic and taking a couple breaks.
It was a brutal drive…left at 8pm Saturday and arrived in Sugarland Tx around noon.
The upside was the 38 gal tank. Still had over half a tank by the time we got to Tx border.

The little red dot is our home. Hoping for the best, expecting some serious damage all around.
Praying for the ones who stayed and praying for all the linemen who are going into a mess to restore power.

I never thought we'd see as much as we have this far east of the eye. Not enough to worry about losing shingles or anything, but the surge, wind and rain are enough to keep people from going to work.

Praying for all you folks in Louisiana!

Good news, our house was spared. A few trees came down but thanking God, they didn’t hit anything but fences.
Bad news, a lot of others weren’t as fortunate. Praying for help in any form possible for those with house damage.
We’ll wait a day or 2 before heading back. Generators are scarce even as far as Sugarland.
Managed to find a Predator generator 4375 from Harbor Freight. I’ve never had a generator, any tips (I know to keep them outside & change oil) would be appreciated.

Never lost power. Barely missed the eye and was on the “more merciful” side of the storm. Dying to get out there and help where I can, but No idea where downed lines/downed trees are so staying put until tmw. Giving the EMS, S&R, linemen and debris clearers one less guy to worry about.
Sucks when the most rational thing to do is stay still and focus on an area within walking distance.

any of y’all need some help, let me know and I’ll do what I can!

Don't plug into your outlets unless you have the wired switch installed from a qualified electrician. Plug extension cords into the generator, and power appliances from there. Watch carbon monoxide fumes, fuel carefully if you have been running and exhaust is hot. Fire hazard. Good Luck.

If you are in the area be careful. They are asking residents that evacuated to wait at least 72 hours before returning. Then, that time allowed to stay may be limited. If you are there, good luck on getting resources but most of all be careful! This was a bad storm that really messed some shit up from Fourchon/Grand Isle, to the Mississippi line. This was a monster storm. Praying for all of South and SE Louisiana

I stayed put in East BR. I got all my supplies before this monster hit….more than necessary LOL. Plenty of gas and food plus a couple sixer’s.
My end’s not even a little chapped….just more concerned about others. Will have to wait a day or two before I can get to the rest of my family. luckily most of them have genny’s and plugged in their WiFi so we have solid communication in spite of cell towers being down.

Can only imagine the destruction this thing put out.

appreciate the thoughts and prayers, my man!
