I am in the process of searching for a new rear axle as mine has given up the ghost (rust)....some options i have found include a locker, I am assuming from a TRD. My question is will an electric locker work (just not lock) on my axle if I do not have the wiring? Also, can I run the wiring and add a switch to enable it to lock on a previously open differential equipped truck?

I don't think there is an e locker in the right size. Tundra runs 8.4" and I believe same era tacoma uses 8".

Not Oem, I could be wrong, but I thought Eaton had a locker for our rear, when I was looking at gears a month or so ago, I thought Eaton was an option

This is true and I would love to see some people install that. From the sound of things I took it as hes looking for whole axle assembly from a junk yard.

So, I guess when anyone refers to a first generation tundra rear differential locker they are only making reference to the limited slip option that was available?
