Alright I'm done digging for the day, but here's my thoughts. Based on comments from a Toyota employee on Mike Sweers' Facebook post of the interior windshield view, there is an easter egg in the shot. The time stamp is 3:18, could that mean the 31st of August? Then the shot of "it's all in the details" of 9:19. Gonna be risky and call it here: 8/31 reveal, 9/19(though a Sunday?) open for orders, and production starts in Nov.

having thoughts of going back to tundra from sequoia. love my tree but wife has one also. was gonna wait to see the '22 but my fear now is there won't be any '21 Pros to buy before the used market takes a shit and if i don't like the '22 driving experience there won't be ANY '21's to be had.

The PTO shaft entering the front diff looks strange to me. Is this how current diff looks where PTO shaft inserts?

Diesel thread is locked? Anyways, TFL very briefly in this video says they heard a rumor about the new Tundra having a diesel power plant

That’s one of the most reliable transmissions ever made. It’s the same 6l90 tranny they’ve been using for 15+ years, but beefed up a bit to handle the additional power output from the 6.6 vs the old 6.0 vortec.

We might already be at the No More '21 Tundras phase. Last time I went through a town big enough to have a Toyota dealer, the closest thing to a new one was a '19 1794 for $52,000 marked down from $62,000: Nu Price But Not Nu Truck.

Are you saying that we should get ladders and try to invade the plant like the fakey-jakey "invasion" of Area 51 folks were talking about a few months ago? Pretty risky just to see what the new ones look like. I heard the security is, uh, pretty good there, with fences and the whole 9 yards. Maybe one of us can take a factory tour and bring a camera.

Yeah buying anything in the current market, particularly a pre-owned vehicle is just stupid.

Maintain your current vehicle if it’s reliable. Drive it for a few more years. Let this nonsense settle down. No one should be buying right now unless their current vehicle is literally tits up, or they have so much $$$ they just don’t care.

I was just going to let this go, but I gotta be me. :D

So instead of reading and regurgitating an article that is satire at best (from Dec 2018), why not just find out from Allison Transmissions?

The miss-information on this site is getting pretty bad. We should probably stick Toyota Tundra Trucks on this site.

Having a durable transmission and this engine that can average 16 mpg is embarrassing to many. Including myself because I barely get 16 mpg in my Tundra. I’m also a conservative driver, so I could see me getting more than 16 mpg with the 6.6 gasser. Having the option of hauling and towing that much more weight would open up so many more opportunities. Bigger trailer, possible larger truck camper one day.

Give me the old school 6-speed transmission and a 6.6 gas engine in a 5,000 pound truck like a Ford F-150 and I could probably get same mileage as a 3.5 ecoboost all day long.....

I truely average 14.5 over 25k miles in my 6.6. That is some towing thrown in. I had my family and loaded down with 400 pounds of gear for a trip to Florida and back we averaged 17+ MPG.

When towing I get 1-2 MPG more than in the Tundra.

The mileage on the truck is constantly .3-.5 higher than what is verified with Fuelly.

Other than at altitude, I do not get the whole small cubic inch turbo thing. We have several GM trucks at work with 6.2 and they get better mileage than the Ecoboosts. This is real world, not running 93 octane on a dyno at 52 MPH like Ford does to claim 20+ MPG.31FBF08A-5A1F-42CD-A298-6A06AA2EC475.jpg2DE3D9A1-68F4-4929-8019-6493A3B04EB8.jpg

BTW the 2500 HD weighs 7,430 pounds and was over 8,000 pounds on our Florida trip with family and Yeti coolers loaded with beer and steaks....

Realistically, 14 MPG is realistic. I am easy and get good mileage and that is realistic.

I averaged 15.9 MPG with the Tundra over 53k miles.

Realistically GM 2500 with the 6.6 gas gets within 1-2 mpg of my Tundra. Yet the 2500 has more than double the payload capacity and towing. I really didn’t know how great that gas 6.6 was before digging a little deeper. If the 6.6 is as durable as the 6.0, this engine will be fantastic. Toyota better bring a magical TTV6 or I could be done with Toyota trucks.

Using the time on the display as info release date is good enough. Using European formatting is too much. Either it's not an Easter egg or Toyota marketing is trying so hard it's not good.
