@SESS that thing is sweet. Paint looks new. What sort of lift does it have? It looks like they lifted it pretty high.

 

Thanks! @FirstGenVol It's got a Custom Chaos fabricated suspension and 6" lift kit. The paint is all original it's got a few minor chips on the hood but still really good overall. Very nice! Would love to see some better pics of the suspension setup. Haven't been a fan of the stepsides, but that truck with the shell makes it look pretty good. Still needs a better taillight option.

 

Definitely a unique truck. Finding a shell for that has to be difficult.

I’m also curious about the suspension details. And wouldn’t mind checking it out in person someday but you’re probably far enough away to make that difficult.

Is it a unicorn that only looks good from the front? Well that’s subjective, but still a unicorn none-the-less.

Edit: I also spy manual hubs. Somebody has spent some time with this truck.

 

You guys have good eyes. I didn't spot the hubs or the TRD Sport.

 

Why would you go manual hubs on these? More reliable?

 

From what I understand, the biggest plus is that they unlock the axle shafts so that you don’t have that extra drag on the driveline when they aren’t needed.

 

So unlock for supercharger street play time, lock for wheelin in 4wd? And the 4wd actuator still handles the front diff power transfer? Very cool.

 

I think the locking hubs might be weaker, and could be cheaper to repair than cv’s or the diff.

but they also look cooler.

Anybody know if off-road solutions is for sure back in business? I’d kinda of like to have manual hubs and they offer a complete kit. They’ve come and went over the years but looks like they’re back

 

Since we’re on the subject, if anyone is considering manual hubs from a performance or mileage standpoint, after doing my swap I’ve noticed like a tenth of an mpg loss. So uhh, putting a bug deflector on might have better long term effects, and be significantly cheaper.

Also from my butt dyno, I cannot tell any difference in performance.

Yeah but you added a ton of weight when you went from 2wd to 4wd

Just bought an 06 DC with 144k miles. Been searching for months. Feels like a new truck to me. Been driving my well used 5 speed t100 with 285k for a long time. Tundra will take over all the duties/ adventures. Torn on selling or keeping the t100 to drive farm roads.

Truck hasn't changed much, but thought Id throw a photo in here.

 

First post!! Inheriting a 2003 RC Base that was used as a supply mule for the in-law's restaurant. Purchased brand new, bare bones, not even a carpet kit. Served its purpose well and didn't get much mileage since father-in-law stopped driving. I am in the process of freshening it up. Bought new locks for the topper, new aftermarket headlights/turn signals (had to get new signals as the driver's side lense separated when I tried to remove it for the headlight swap. Subsequently trashed it in the process of getting it off), replaced the accessory belts to stop incessant squealing on every start up and replaced HVAC bulbs that had burned out. Next step is getting the fogs installed along with tackling the water leak at the third-brake light. PITA with the topper in place!
