What notifications from the Toyota app?

Namely for new owners yet to receive their trucks. Will one get a notification of the completed build or when it ships?

Confident that would be a no. You have no truck connected to it, so no functions. It is truck specific. Build and shipping updates would come from your dealer.

The available Toyota connected services app allows you to stay connected to your vehicle no matter how far you travel from it. This smartphone app gives you the power to check your vehicles current health status by accessing maintenance information, view active recall alerts, check service deals, and more. Not only can you check how your vehicle is doing but you can also find where you last parked, start or stop the vehicle’s engine, lock the doors, and roll the windows up all from your smartphone app.

 

I do have the pre build VIN entered.

 

That app does not monitor your truck's build and shipping. And pretty sure the pre build vin is just a "place holder". Actual vin will be different.

That's what Google has been telling me too. I read somewhere a new owner was able to somewhat track the shipment of their new vehicle without involvement of the dealer so that's why I asked.
