Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

To everyone who has purchased these. I am building a new 2021 Tundra and have used RCI in the past but have not had the issues of worrying about Cat theft. That said, I do believe in helping keep people honest by making it very hard to take things from my truck.

What would you recommend from a theft protection and then mild off roading perspective? I want to make sure I am ordering the correct things. I would also prefer aluminum as it is lighter and just as rigid and zero rust.

If you go back through this thread (I know… 30 pages is ALOT) you’ll see installations on trucks that may help answer your questions.

if your truck is basically lightly or unmodified, any will work. I went with 3/16 aluminum, and theft deterrent bolts and washers. I want to keep as much of my payload as possible, so I figured 3/16 should still offer deterrence while saving some weight.

 

@Classy63 are the 3/16 aluminum plates you picked up From the cutter this week shipping this week?

 

Yes, All the bare ones are shipping. I have 2-3 more orders to ship left. I think I am at June 10th for bare

 

Thank you! I will begin to dig in... I did run through some of it, but was confused regarding which plates to get, etc. I am very familiar with RCI as I have had them on my FJ's and Tacomas. I am not familiar with what may be needed regarding the Tundra. Also, I will have an 8" Readylift installed on my rig... (let the bashing begin) with 37's and Bilstein Coil Overs... blah blah blah... This rig will be a daily driver, MX Towing machine, and off road tent trailer rig for mild overlanding. (I have built 3 previous and my favorite was my 2017 6" lifted Tundra with an SC and loved it, but my shuttle driver (company hired to move it from point A to point B on the river) decided to see how fast she could go and drove it through a tree (more than happy to share pics). I only share this info for the knuckleheas who may decide to get off topic and bash my decisions regarding mods and upgrades...

@Classy 63, any advice is greatly appreciated as to what you would recommend and estimated lead times.

Holy cow, I can see why you’re concerned- I think that much lift may pose a problem, but I’m not the expert.

Start a new thread and post those pics! You shouldn’t run into any haters here, this is the best online community I’ve joined.

 

The good news, I make a plate that fits that lift like a glove. I would say to anyone who goes off road to get the thicker plates.

I have shipped out all of the 3/16 bare aluminum I can. I have 2 front and 2 rear bare plates, but one of the rear has some deformation and I don’t have 2 good Z brackets to send with the hood rear cat plate. I will get more made and send these out.

As for 3/16 aluminum at powder coat, he said he is going to knock them out this weekend so I hope to pick up early next week.

3/16 steel at powder coat, I am supposed to have a partial load delivered any day now. I will skip what I can out ASAP.

This is not me trying to defer people from talking to me. Please ask questions, inquire about your plates! As much as I hate giving bad news, I want everyone to know what is going on and get help. I try my best to answer texts, messages and emails within 24 hours.

As a ray of hope, here is a complete set of 3/16 steel plates with some extras that was powder coated Jamaican Teal. They are getting installed tomorrow morning.

I cannot tell you how, but I missed your order somehow… I will ship your front plate out Monday whether I have the rear brackets ready or not

Well, I just finished installing the Jamaican Teal plates! They look amazing!

 

None of this offers protection. The thefts of cats from trucks happen in about 30 seconds… thieves won’t see an etched vin until later, and will just scratch it off or toss the cat… and painting them isn’t definitive for proving they’re stolen.

I understand that’s not the point of your post— just adding info for others that read it and accept it at face value as useful deterrents….

 

Scrapyard should ask for some kind of proof where the cats came from before purchasing them from these pieces of shit thieves to help slow down thefts.

Thieves are apparently shipping the stolen cats out of country, Texas governor signed a new law that requires proof didn’t do a damn thing. A group of thieve in Houston just got caught on a used car lot with a rental truck loaded with 400 cats…
