Plan is for me to go into work normal time tomorrow, prep gear and then go into standby mode to see if we'll be called out. Went over the generator with the wife, and we have plenty of fuel, so the family should be all set.

Big concerns will be river flooding and downed trees in the park. If we get called out, we usually work with electrical or DOW crews clearing roadways and power lines. You just pray the crew you work with knows what they are doing and the grid is shut down

I have a friend from high school that managed a store. Now he owns a few in Raleigh. I saw that thing. He never had an incident with that. But he did slice the top of one of his knuckles off on a slicer. The ER manages to stick it back on somehow. But it never was right and the finger was painful and useless.

I was thinking about posting up some wise-ass pic of flavored anal lube or something, then I realized I really don't want my browser/Amazon etc recommending that shit to me all the time.

New topic. Not tomatoes or what you can get for $50.
We just had a discussion about how children address adults. When I was growing up we we called them Mr. or Miss followed by their first name. Mr Herman and Miss Elizabeth were my next door neighbors. My wife grew up in Northern Virginia and her grandparents lived in Richmond. Those places it was Mr. or Mrs. and the last names. Mr Smith and Mrs Jones. When she worked as an educator for the city museum here it was a mixed bag with the homeschool groups. That led me to wonder, is it a north south thing, or more localized? Keep in mind, I think anything north of Richmond is Canada, but I still love y'all. West of West Virginia is Mexico. Unless you're north of about 77* latitude, that's Canada too. I love y'all too. How did you growing up or your kids address adults?

Mrs,Ms or mister then last name with my kids until high school. Then mostly same except a few Ms.- first name. The more casual we’re always female and younger and usually an art teacher or advisor or something. A couple exceptions but even the boys favorite 4-5 teacher that was super laid back and cool was Mr. - last name. Even years later when not their teacher anymore.

I grew up with last name, my wife grew up with first, with the proper mr/mrs/ms. My kids use the first name, as they spend more time with my wife/mother in law. I still use last names and get my kids confused when I refer to a neighbor as mr (last name)

My left hand is doing pretty good so its unbandaged, my index finger and my middle finger are pretty blistered up so typing is a little awkward.
Wednesday after it happened at the er

    Today
    IMG_0164.jpg

It's not much of a story. I was going to make tacos for dinner and put a 12" skillet down on our induction cooktop to preheat on medium high heat. It was late so my daughter said why don't we eat leftovers? I went upstairs to tell my wife the new plans. Talked to her about 20 minutes. She got a phone call so I came back downstairs.

I walked into the kitchen, saw the pan sitting on the stove and thought I'd hang it up. It hangs by the handle so my dumbass picked it up with both hands by the bottom. I screamed in agony, dropped the pan on the counter (thankfully not on the glass cooktop) and ran water over my hands, My daughter said I yelled "FUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" for about 4 minutes straight. Wife came down, wondering what happened. I told her I burnt my hands and she said I should go to the ER. I was getting ready to drive myself there but she insisted.

Vets and ER's kind of suck because it used to take the VA a year or so to pay and you'd have to endure the constant collection threats. We got there, I made sure they were "approved by the VA" and went to the back. This is a small town hospital.

When they asked how I did it, I told them I was "cookin' dinner" and grabbed the hot pan. Later, a nurse came by and said "So you were cooking meth?" I thought she was kidding and replied "yes. It was going to be taco flavored." 3 more nurses asked me what I was cooking before we left.

They bandaged me up, told me not to pop the blisters, and said Advil was going to be my friend. No painkillers at all. Did get a Tetanus shot. When the doc asked me if I had any questions about the shot, I said "Will it mess with the Covid vaccine nanites?" He looked at me like "Holy shit!" and then laughed when I said I was kidding. That's probably why they didn't give me any painkillers.

We were in the car leaving and I looked at my wife and said "Hey...." That's when I realized they thought I was cooking meth.

Yowch. I did something similar last week, not quite as bad though. We were having a fire in the pit out back and I was tossing more wood on. I stopped paying attention for 2 seconds and grabbed the hot screen with my bare hand. SSEM judges scored my grill marks at 8/10.

All healed up in 2 days. Running it under cold water for 10min and then dressed with a WaterJel dressing. That shit is magical. No doc visits for me fortunately.
