The wife is away for the weekend for a wedding, setting up the perimeter as we speak, this could get ugly really fast.

It's definitely weird in my case. No droppings ever. Cabin filter changed often. Nothing. Maybe the critter likes chewing that spot and hightails it? I raise my hood every weekend to check things by habit. Never a sign of any kind of critter. But.....then again it may have been there already. The Tunny spent a few years in ND before I bought it which makes sense.

Yeah the long term storage is mostly to preserve the overabundance of seasonal food. IMHO having a generator is the best prep, getting the hell out of town is always an option. Beer, food, dogs, and drive west. Plus credit cards and cash with you.

We don’t get Hurricanes but monsoon flooding is no joke. These pictures are of the same spot - pics of the creek taken from opposite directions. The top pic is from March - bottom pic taken this morning.

Hurricane prep is done. generator is full and test run, 5 gas cans full. Saws sharpened.

A New England hurricane is like a Florida snowstorm, we don’t know what the fuck we are doing.

I’m on call for disaster response, so beer doesn’t matter.

The most Florida, Florida I ever saw was during Hugo.
We stepped outside during the eye passing and I swear, the neighbor 3 doors down had a Rumba band playing.

I took them some mangos from our tree.

The wind started whipping again and the home owner said, como el gato que le están pellizcando el rabo. “go like the cat whose tail is being pinched”.

Sounds so right. During Irma the eye passed directly over my house. During that time everyone ended up outside to see what had happened so far. It was like a social hour and we ended up hanging out and having beers. As soon as the southern eye started coming in we all scattered like roaches and back to our caves.

Did a tornado in 2011. It actually went through my park about 20 minutes after I left for the day. I arrived home to watch it go by my house about a mile away. Super storm Sandy messed up pretty good as well. This might be the first time I get to deal with a full hurricane, gotta get my rain suit ready, as I’m sure I’ll be out cutting. They usually pull us out of the parks and send us into the communities to assist.

    No shit!
Hurricanes don’t just pop up over that hill a mile away.

Brother, the tornado stories are abundant on my end.
Lived through some of the largest to pass through Alabama.
I could go on for hours.
Seen some sad, crazy, heartbreaking, gut wrenching, amazing and uplifting (no pun intended) events from tornadoes.

Imagine the barometric pressure and wind pressure causing enough pressure differential to actually lift you off the ground, as though you were weightless, while under a house in a storm cellar.

The F2 we had did enough here, cannot fathom an F4 or 5. One of the bonuses of New England in general is the amount of things in nature that can kill you are minimal, from wildlife to storms, it’s pretty mild compared to a lot of other areas

You all stay safe out there with the hurricanes and Walmart branded cheese whiz. Im out of commission for a bit - I burnt the shit out of my fingers on both hands wednesday night and typing and scrolling with bandaged fingers is a bitch. This thread moves too fast for me to keep up.
