Ah, OK. Yeah, no ban @JuicyJ I have just been fairly quiet this week. It has been a tough five days to process.

We need another picture release from Toyota so we can argue about that and not get banned. It's been about 2 weeks hasn't it? Time for a new picture.

Yes let’s have another engaging argument where 2020 and 2021 Tundra buyers can invent things “wrong” with the 2022. Like rear axle shock mount locations that will result in 2022 owners being stranded in the wilds to be eaten by bears and chupacabras. Even though the current truck has basically identical shock mount brackets on the rear axle.

Yea, I saw my post wrapped up in that nonsense. I’m not sure how I got roped into this?:notsure:
I was thoroughly enjoying the acceleration of that Eco. Thing would have smoked my 5.7. I know the 5.7 is a proven and stout engine but it’s slow compared to many offerings now. Personally, I look forward to the twin turbo and potential gains both in power and MPG.

    A bunch
They'll drop one spec at a time like the pictures.

My guess on the first one will be TRD Pro tire size: 275/70 R18

Funny because Toyota’s own photo of the Pro shows Falken Wildpeak 285/65-R18’s.

Million mile engine though, I expect new power train to be reliable but nowhere near as reliable in terms of longetivity. Hopefully they don’t make it hard to work on, cab removals are expensive

Owned the 2nd gen 3.5 Ecoboost and they put down great power and are fun to drive. The 10sp trans can be glitchy and shifting from drive to reverse never happened in a reasonable time which made for the odd tense moment backing from a main road into a driveway. Towing anything over 3500LBS up steep grades and over long distances the mileage takes a complete nose dive which isn't surprising with two turbos cramming air into the motor. Best mileage with a passenger on the highway over distance was 10.9 L/per 100k. Worst mileage was towing a boat and she was drinking up to 28-30 L/per 100k on grades. When VCT'S (cam Phasers) start hammering the fun ends and the reason I dumped the Ford after the 2nd top end tear down in under 40k. If you're lucky Ford will throw in a POS Focus loaner while it's in having the engine work or the multiple recalls done.

Throw larger LT tires, aftermarket wheels and drive around the city or pull 6000+ behind a boosted V6 and the advertised mileage isn't even close to the downhill with tailwind crap they advertise.

On a positive note the turbos sound cute under load or until a 5.9 Cummins or Powerstroke is along side your rig

Agreed. Sidewall profile is your friend, improves the ride, protects the wheel, and makes for a far more resilient tire.

Low profile tires are pants on head retarded on a truck or SUV (actual off road capable SUV not a tall station wagon/crossover). When I see them I can immediately positively ID the owner of the truck or SUV in question as a moron.

The same logic could be applied to those who cram 35s or 37s on their truck.

Condescending isn't a good look on anyone.

I'm gonna say the new TTV6 is a 200-250k engine. And that's still good, most of the members (not all) have owned multiple trucks in the last decade, so the majority of owners of these trucks won't keep them anywhere near long enough to experience a serious issue.

BTW I don't mean the short block will be blown by 250k, I mean you're likely to experience serious issues with the induction system. Turbos wear out, intercoolers get clogged with oil, leaks develop, boost drops off, all kinds of things will happen to even the best turbo system. Things that'll put the truck into the shop for expensive repairs the V8 would never develop.......long after the original owner sold the truck.

In the Lexus LS, it is an"engine out" situation for many items (that should last a long time).
Being in a truck chassis, I would hope components access is greatly improved

If the worst part of owning a TTV6 is having to replace some turbo components at 250k miles then sign me up. That’s maintenance I have to worry about in about 20 years.

It’s just more parts in general but yea if you’re not gonna own it at 200k then who cares?

Personally I have owned turbo engines before and trade out it sell them before 100k because I didn’t want to deal with any turbo related issues. Even without signs they were coming.

Oh I’ll probably own it at 200k still but when the trucks been paid off for 15 years what’s a few grand in replacing some turbo parts before they die on me. No biggie. Preventative maintenance.

Was in the same position last week and due to the current situation decided to secure a 2021 to carry me over until the 2022 is in full production and has a few miles under it's belt. If a dealer can pull off a realistic 2022 order by late September arriving by early 2023 I don't have many options.

While farming dealerships within a 6 hour drive I've found some have up to 40 deposits on 2022 models yet will their allotment allow for that number in their fiscal year?
" oh sorry sir/ma'am due to the chip shortage"...
Other dealers only had a couple names taken so it may pay off looking at less attractive due to distance establishments or Tier 1 outfits that move more iron if a guy wants an honest chance.

Looking forward to the final release after seeing the EKanoo Racing landcruiser lc 300 dyno video.

I drive a 2017 Ford transit 250 with the eco boost motor for work and it’s always loaded to the gills with wire, unistrut, all kinds of hardware and all kinds of tools and no matter how much is in it or how heavy she is. The bitch moves. It’s a sleeper. So far it has 80k on it with no issues. I beat that bitch like it owes me money. Very surprised at how it takes the beating. We’ll see how long it lasts, but it’s been very good to me so far. We have 3 other transits with the same configuration and so far no issues. None are over 100k so we’ll see what happens. I do prefer the V8 though, but I have faith in Toyota to not put out a shit engine that will last. If I like the specs of the new tundra my plan was to sell my 2011 IS350 f sport and buy the new pro. We don’t use the car and it just sits in my garage with only 57k on it.

Don't bring politics into this. There is no doubt that there has been global warming. There are significant indicators and records of change.
