I guess they take the skid off before they try to get your catalytic converter? It appears they only got the skid plate and either couldn't get to the cat or got tired, bored, needed a fix, or scared off from something?

Some suggestions for me on replacement and theft deterrent?

    Mine is a 2016 Platinum.

    Thanks!

Which skid plate? Your truck wouldn’t come with any plate over the cats…
    :notsure:

These seem to be the popular choice here for cat protection.

When I bought my truck, it was a dealer truck and it had many upgrades on it like dual exhaust, sway bar, and I am thinking a skid plate was added. See the picture I just posted. The three parts of the plastic bumper that has screws is loose.

Nobody wants the stock skid my man
My guess is, it was loose and fell off. Are there signs of tampering anywhere else?

Your OEM skid plate is there. It's that cheap aluminum cover. As far as the missing screws I'd say is just due to the dealership breaking the plastic tabs and not replacing them.

I know that the black piece of metal is the OEM skid plate because I just replaced mine with the TRD pro plate, which is the large aluminum skid that you see on the pros.....at least that's what it looks like to me.

agree that if the pic is how it currently looks, it is just missing the three screws that attach the bumper.

    Thanks!

I recently had the at serviced along with the front differential. Could that have lead to the missing screws?

it appears to be as stated...that you're missing these screws. dealers get lazy/complacent/forgetful/etc when doing these and leave them off more often than they care to admit. verify that your skid plate itself still have the bolts holding it up. should be 5 if i'm not mistake. the areas circled are where there are some threaded phillips/hex head screws.

This post is the poster child for doing your own maintenance work. This is super sloppy work
