This David Chao Automotive Press video talks about the suspension and good possibility of front/rear e-lockers. ENGINEER EXPLAINS WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING WITH 2022 TOYOTA TUNDRA - Steering, Suspension, Chassis - YouTube

I'm only interested in a 'better' Sequoia, of course Sequoia will be based on the Tundra so all of the Tundra speculation applies.

They talked about full-time 4WD (the current Seq has it on all trims) I'm hopeful the new one will have it, such a nice thing to have. The LC300 10-spd has it and the LC200 has it with the 8-spd, so it's easy to speculate the next gen Seq will have it. Tundra ???

What the heck do you plan on doing with an all-electric truck? Just wanna be "that guy" with the new, full size electric truck?
I know you ain't gonna be towing with that......

I just can’t get on board with much of anything that guy says.

YouTube channels have brought clickbaitery to a whole new level.

I could actually go for one, replace either my Tundra or my wifes Ram 1500. The electric one would become the DD that can haul stuff within an hour of the house, then have the other gasser to do the longer trips. Now I'd much prefer a PHEV with ~50 mile electric range. Do stuff around town all electric but have the gas component to do the longer trips.

There will be a "Prime" version, but it'll be a little bit, Prime will most likely have 35miles realistic EV only range.

Electric truck would be great for me, towing my enclosed trailer to race tracks within my state for racing/track days in my motorcycle. There are dozens of use cases where an electric pickup and it's more limited range are more than sufficient.

Chao has provided more knowledge to me than anybody else. Dude dove into hydraulic steering vs electric steering. He's the only guy that explains the actual nuts and bolts of TNGA-F. He quashes ridiculous speculation not only about TNGA-F but also drivelines, steering and suspension.

Maybe the reason I like him so much is he talks about the new Sequoia. That's the info I'm interested in. I'm done with trucks, only 4WD jumbo SUV's from now on. And I have very little interest in whatever Ford, GM, Dodge, Jeep, Nissan offer in the jumbo SUV segment.

I have certainly been clickbaited by Youtube researching the other jumbo SUV's other than the Sequoia. Clicked on many and ended up with my gut feeling Sequoia anyway, but good to get confirmation the used Seq SR5 was the best choice.

Chao says new Tundra will have e-lockers, want to bet if that comes true?

At work, we deal with automotive engineering bits and pieces, we do not work for Toyota directly, but seen enough in terms of what's coming down the pipeline.

The Prime trim has been rumored for a while.

All electric has to happen. It's just a matter of when they'll do it.

I wouldn’t bet the farm on that. The Highlander, which is one of Toyota’s latter revisions does not have a Prime. It does have an EV mode but it’s a joke and not practical at all.

There will be a Prime Highlander, it'll be under the Grand Highlander.

The new gen Tundra Hybrid will have an EV mode but just like Camry, it's for driving around in parking lot, there will be a Prime version that's a plug in with stronger motor in the transmission and a separate motor that drives/assist the front wheels.

SR5 with leather is by far the best use of $$ in a sequoia. past couple years they've had $3k rebates in December iirc. Bought two that way.

I have not seen any reference to a Prime version of the Grand Highlander. I’d be interested in reading any material you have on that. Thanks

From what I've read, the towing range for an electric truck will be about 100 miles. Hope you live in a small state.

Lots of people on this forum have said the same thing, and they’re not promoting their YouTube channel with it. The guy uses his status as an AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER to give weight to speculative statements that one can easily find in this thread. And he has shown in the past that he’s willing to stretch the truth or be flat out deceptive in order to get clicks. I’m just kind of over it. Referring to this mostly:

I looked for a used SR5 with the leather upgrade as great bang for the buck but there was nothing available locally. Carhartt canvas seat covers will have to do on the base cloth seats.

Had to go to the dealer today and WOW there are NO vehicles on the lot on the new car side!!! Walked inside and there were just two sales people and one manager/money guy in the glass booth and I told him the lot looks terrible!! He told me it is going to get worse in a couple weeks and be like that until they let lose of the 22s!! Said they will get vehicles in but it will be very little and none of the upgraded things just the plain cars and trucks!! Another dealer I go to for service is the same way!!,, no vehicles on their property!! I understand Covid stuff but this is bad and you would thing they would do something at this points. I do not know how these dealers are going to be making money when there is nothing to sell!! I have a feeling there are going to be some salesmen looking for a job!!!!

They are still selling vehicles. However they are all sold before they are even delivered. So as soon as the truck rolls in, the vehicles go inside prepping for customer delivery.

What exactly would you have them do? They're already buying used vehicles for ludicrous prices so they can resell them.

C'mon man, Chao actually debunks the crap I've read on this board. He cuts it down to what is possibly a real thing.

Chao says the Tundra will have front/rear e-lockers, you want to bet? Maybe only a rear, what is your bet? I'll gamble on Chao.

I just would like to see a manual transmission, there was a rumor it was coming in 22 but I haven't seen anything for sure one way or another. Than again, I did not read all 365 pages of this thread. If not a manual, the 6 man cab would be nice to see stay. I couldn't find one when I was looking, but I would like to at least have the column shifter if I'm stuck with an automatic.

Very few are being delivered. From what I have heard they have completely stopped making anymore 21s all together.??

Given that no one else offers a manual in a pickup any more, I think that would be a hard sell.
