So i have my CCW interview and training in a few weeks, and I would like to get some advice on IWB holsters that are good for daily carry and comfortable. I am not looking for anything with a combined mag pouch, just a basic holster that is comfortable. I have a big foot gun belt I plan to use that i have been breaking in and i will mostly be standing while carrying but there will be some sitting such as in the car. My 2 carry firearms are MP 9mm Shield and a P229 .40.

I have a few of the crossbreed iwb holsters and like them. There are a few other brands that are similar. Unfortunately it’s a personal preference so you’ll soon have a box of holsters you don’t like

I will check out Alien Gear, havent heard of it before. I have heard of the sneaky pete. Whats the general opinion on claw attachments? does it effect comfort alot?

Have tried a few different brands... Crossbreed super tuck was very nice, but seemed a bit sweaty (had the all leather one). It was nice if you were wearing a T-shirt and another shirt, as you could tuck in the T-Shirt, use the Crossbreed, and then put on your 2nd shirt and be fine. And yes, it was easy to conceal (other than the clips on your belt) by tucking your shirt over it.

I tried (and currently use) an Alien Gear holster as it seems to not make me sweat quite as much. I can wear it w/o t-shirt / second shirt (so just a single shirt and it is comfortable. Alien Gear also seems easy to wear with a tuck-in shirt for me, so comparing that feature to the Crossbreed was a wash. I stayed with Alien Gear for IWB because it felt just a bit more cooler.

Note: Both of these are in the 3:00 to 4:00 position. I don't appendix carry, so can't comment about the relative comfort in those areas.

The only advice I can give you is that holsters are an extremely personal choice, what works great for one person doesn't for another. Body shape and size makes a huge difference in what works. The only real way to figure out the best best for you is to buy and try.

Find a good kydex holster. As others have said, it will take you a few tries to find “the one”. Personally I don’t like appendix carry, but plenty of people do.
A local company makes my holsters, but I also like Bravo Concealment

    This is very true!

Also, may want to try out a belly band (sounds stupid, but some folks I know love them, especially if they are very active). Relatively cheap one from Amazon is one that my friend swears by... but he said they run small, so if in doubt, size up.

I have one somewhere for my P238 .. gotta try to find it. Pretty cool holster for a smaller gun.

Lots of good info guys. I looked at some Kydex ones and i found a couple that I think will work. Good suggestion here as I was considering leather before, but always feared an accidental trigger pull when the leather wears and folds weird. The Kydex look pretty light and bare bones in a good way. Im going to try a claw kit as well since its a cheap option and since 6 pack has been lacking....I may need to round out around my stomach alittle if i do that location lol.

They guys that recommended Alien Gear, how bulky are these? From the pics on the site they look fairly large.

As others have said… Crossbreed makes a quality product… I have also used Alien Gear IWB… I also have several holsters from Galco and Safariland… both of those companies make long lasting quality holsters.

Texas Concealment has been my choice for Kydex Holsters. Really nice product, they keep it as small as possible for daily/comfortable carry.

I'm running a Tulstet Oath and a BRAVO Concealment torsion. I carried a Sig P-229 for 18 years on Duty either in a IWB or a Truss. Now I'm carrying a Glock 19 and find I'm more and more going to the BRAVO. I did modify it a little to ride more comfortable but that's the great thing about kydex you can remold and move corners with a heat gun and reshape with a dremmal tool really quickly.
Also spend the $$ to buy a Real gun belt and don't rely on a cheap ass belt to hold the weight of the gun without stretching and deforming.

Never considered pocket carry, I always felt like even the shield would be kind of large for that. It would work when i wear cargo shorts but i am pretty sure it would take me forever to get it out of my jean pockets.....

I use it for a sig p365. With a little practice drawing from it feels natural. Only downside is tight pants or shorts it's not so great.

I’ve used Crossbreed for the past 10 years and I will say not only are their holsters comfortable, but their customer service is top notch.

I’ve had the Kydex fail twice in 10 years and on both instances, Crossbreed replaced the holster with a brand new one. The only bad part was I had to break them in again, but they truly honor their lifetime warranty. This customer service and the comfort is what will keep me a CB customer.

I’ve also used/owned We The People Holsters and for the price, they’re good. Not as comfy as the Crossbreed, but def affordable and concealable.

Just throwing another brand out there.

    Phalanx Concealment – Concealment Holsters

Nothing but rave reviews from a bunch of firearms forums so I gave him a shot for my P365XL. Reached out to the owner (Allen) with some questions and a recommendation, who was excellent to deal with, and absolutely love the holster he set me up with. Attention to detail is second to none. Not an IWB holster, but he does make them and I will be getting a few for my EDC's. Great guy to deal with and has a great story to go along with his company as well.

    CCW Interview?? You poor fella.
I can’t stand kydex. Very uncomfortable.
R Grizzle is the best holster I have had. Southern Sidekick reinforced has been the for to holster for years now.
    https://rgrizzleleather.com/iwb-holsters.html

Though I got tired of wearing pants/shorts with a sturdy belt. Having 3 kids I am up and down and moving a lot.
I ended up getting a flat Fanny pack. I can wear it on the front or back under a t shirt and it is barely seen and I can wear athletic shorts with easy.
I have a tiny kydex trigger guard holster connected to a lanyard and the lanyard attached to the inside of the pack.
My trigger is always covered and A quick unzip of the pouch and draw the gun the trigger guard stays connected to the pouch.
No slower than moving my cover garment and drawing with my IWB holster and far far more comfortable.

Tell me about it. I actually got lucky, there was an interview opening for a couple weeks from now, someone must have cancelled since the next available time after that was into next year. We are actually lucky were I live, the sheriff has been moving CCW applicants very quickly. I hear it used to take up to a year for the whole process in my area.
