I’ve had my eye on that one for a while. Are you pretty happy with it? Any complaints? Also would it fit a family of 4? (Younger children)

Yes we’re very happy with it so far. The only problem we had was some moisture the first night, but I think that’s every tent. We just opened some window flaps and it was perfect. And as for a family of 4, this is a 4 man tent. We had our 13 year old and 1 big dog and 2 small dogs with dog beds up in there and it was comfortable. I will be ordering the annex to go with it too.

How did you get the big dog up the ladder?

80 lbs boxer, I picked him up and and put him on my shoulder like the big baby he is. Good thing the ladder is rated for 330 lbs. Getting him down is a little different. He comes to the door and looks down the collapses on the bed.

It would never work with my 80lb lab. He would be crazy and no one would get any sleep. We'd both end up falling off the ladder in the middle of the night.

Next dog will be female and medium sized.

Went up to Chattanooga to get away from the hurricane. Also, swung by CVT’s store and should be placing an order for the Mt.Hood Tuesday. Super excited to get into the RTT game!

According to my wife that would count and it's the preferred method of overlanding. lol

Waiting on an 8’ IronMan awning and awning room to arrive. I’m going to use their quick release mounts to mount on my GX470.

My Tundra is a crew max with a BackFlip VP hybrid tonneau cover. If I wanted to use it on the Tundra what would the simplest configuration be? I’m thinking a tall VooDoo rack?

Anything I can do to minimize set-up when we get to camp (aka relax with my beer faster) is a win! Pre-made bed with straps to hold it in place, ready for our 5:30 am departure tomorrow :kona: Pillows will be thrown in once we are at camp!

Blessing in disguise: Had a trip planned to the Sierras but CA National Forests were closed unexpectedly due to fire danger (or whatever...), went to Utah instead and found this gem of a spot! Only saw two ATVs the whole time, one who drove to this point and took pics for a few minutes and another on a hike we took away from our camp. Other than that not a single other person. PERFECT!

We built this for our doggos...needs improvement but a lot easier than lifting a 70 lb dog.

These are the only other two I have. We threw it together really quickly before our first RTT trip with the dogs, mostly with stuff we already had. It's 1/2" plywood with 2x2 on the sides and 2x4 on the ends. Used spray adhesive to attach a cheap yoga mat for traction. The hooks are horizontal bike hangers and attach to the ladder, and it folds with a continuous hinge. We prop up the middle with a 4x4 (always take some camping) once we have it set-up. It's pretty stable for the most part, and one of us stays down with the dogs to kind of direct them up while the other is up in the tent to call them up.

But I think a new one is in the works for us. This one is kind of hard to set-up. It's awkward and just...not right. Also, I want to make it connect to the other side of the tent so we don't have to remove it every time we need to use the ladder. Thinking about buying a cheap 16' extension ladder ($90 is "cheap" for this) and cutting it down to 12' so it will fit in the truck bed when closed, then adding wood boards with mats to it (will probably deconstruct the current ramp and use that wood).

    To be continued...haha!

I went up to The Ouachita National Forest last year in November and it was beautiful. Found a great campsite off Hickory Nut Mountain Road that was really private. Went in to Hot Springs for the last day of the trip and that was really cool too.

is the hickory nut mountain road, a open camping area or do i need to call and secure a site? Not really wanting to stay at a camp ground.

It’s a national forest so you can camp anywhere you want as long as your vehicle isn’t more than 20 feet off the road
