I'm an ex Con. Went with the Nazi Southern after the split but when the wanted me to fix a problematic class yard in Macon GA I left and went Rail America. Left there in 06 to go to the Ohio Central retiring from there as Chief Eng. C&S in 2018. I'd had more than enough of the G&W. Don't miss it one bit.

There is a shortage of resin for spray in bed liners.

Yes the company I work for has to import raw material from Asia. When a shipment finally leaves the port of departure it stays on the rail for weeks more. It gets to Memphis then sits for another week.

A fellow "Cutter and Splicer"! I started out in the ditch burying signal cable on 7/10/78. It was a good run, all and all.

Below is a copy of a text reply from my dealer when asked to explain port options.

Good morning! I am so sorry that I didn't get back to you yesterday. Bed liners I know are always installed at the plant, same with the tailgate. The all weather floor mats will come with the truck in a big box! Our detailing department puts all the mats in while they are cleaning the truck up for delivery. Hope this helps! Again I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Just call line x and ask them. That was who informed me when I last contacted them about spraying some accessories.

This is more common than people think. This is also why I made sure to get the VIN of my truck while in transit. The dealer did not want to sell me the truck before it hit the lot but I pressed them on it.

I have heard old stories of people custom ordering a vehicle and the delivery is "delayed". The dealer takes delivery of the vehicle and sits it on the lot to see if they can get more for it.

Maybe a dumb question but has your salesperson checked to see if a similar truck is scheduled to be built sooner? If so, they can put your name on it then you can add the options you want later. Beaman Nissan did that for me when i wanted to order one in June and it arrived July 29, 5 days earlier they told me. Just a thought.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the price the quoted me, actual msrp, did not chamge at the time of sale.

just got word that my truck, 21 limited 4x4, build date pushed back until 8 September. I'm bummed, thinking i probably won't get a Tundra now, at least not a new v8.

My SR5 4wd Crewmax is slated for Aug 27. I don't get a warm trusting feeling my dealer would voluntarily tell me of any delay without my Wife going there and making a scene.

I wouldn't count it out. From the multiple dealers I've chatted with in the past month, plus the forums on here, I'd be pretty confident you are still getting one.

Interesting how the production seems to vary. My truck was schedule to be built in the last week of July and it was done on time. Port did the spray in bedliner the next week and put on the rail car. It's up here now and I should be able to pick it up next week.

yeah very interesting. Mine original build was scheduled for July 9, and is not delayed until Sept. 12. I've since moved on from that truck, but am still tracking the VIN

Did you get the VIN for your truck yet? If so, you can get the Toyota app and track your truck like I did. The salesman was very surprised when I called him to say that my truck was at the dealership. BTW, my truck sat at the port in NW Portland for over a week waiting to get transported to the dealership.

I do have it, my sales guy says he checks status daily and he gives me a call once a week with updates. I'm not too up on phone apps but I'll check that out.

What app is it exactly. I have the Toyota app, and someone on here was saying they could see the build date, but I don't see that on mine. I have the (from what I understand) Pre build VIN, but it doesn't give you much info.

The app is just called "Toyota". It is the one that you use for unlocking or remote starting your truck. It has a location feature in it that enables you to view the location of your truck. I believe that I just created an account and entered the VIN to get going.

Yeah I think that is because we both have pre build VINs. I’ve been told you will get an updated VIN once the truck is built

My pre build VIN has a letter in the last 6 spaces. I read once built, that letter will change to a number.

So….when is the cutoff on production for a 2021? With build dates out into September, seems like we are getting short on time to make the changes on the production line and have 2022’s available by EOY.

My friend ordered a F150 in February, still waiting. I haven't seen a new Tundra on the lot here in Canada since January. I told the dealer to please take down the Toyota Truck sign on the dealership as they only have Corollas.
