No it doesn't, the blessing in disguise is everything takes a while now to arrive it gives me time to really think about what's next, so suspension eta is October, that means sc orders in November, install in spring, got something to look forward to every few months lol.

We were lucky enough to beat the King Shocks 10months lead time but, we still waited about 5months LOL. I think the SC should be my last upgrade, my truck is pretty much fully built . But who knows, maybe full cab cage next year? LOL

Whatever this forum told me to do
    update after a week.

yes, it is possible for the blower to NOT affect your mileage.

before blower, I was getting 18mpg on my trip to work. 28 miles south of Houston to ship channel. I use cruise control 80% of the time at 59mph

today, i finally got around to driving like a responsible adult again. I did 18mpg.

the trick is to not aggravate the boost bypass. cruise control going over an overpass will aggravate the boost bypass. it makes the blower mad and takes off. in a good way.

driving without cruise control will keep the truck from dropping a gear and it will lug over the hill.

now that I know this....I can go back to NOT driving like a responsible adult.

I am sooo thankful Costco has a gas station on my way home.

my truck has stock 20" wheels & tires.

Thanks for the update. Regarding the error code, if you don't reset, are you stuck in limp mode?

it never went to limp mode.

it just lit up the dash.

I imagine it would reset if you re-started the truck.

    simple reset.

has not done it since. maybe it learned?

    Twin turbos ? Have a link ?

I saw a build once from the UAE that had twin turbos but never seen it here. They do a lot of cool stuff over there, lots of sand and lots of money.

Another update on the Harrop Stage 1.

Took a road trip from south of Houston to Lake Travis. The hilly part!

Truck did 18.3mpg round trip. Went 64mph on cruise.

We’ve made this trip twice before in the Tundra. The blower has the transmission acting differently. It does not hunt for gears near as much. Which is nice. Although, I can’t figure out why this is so. Nothing changed other than boost. I wonder how load is calculated to change gears?

Passing cars is effortless. No lag. It drops a gear & gos. Gotta be careful, as it gains speed remarkably quicker.

Under load…The TRD exhaust sound like a drum roll on a symphonic Tympany drum. Robust, not raspy. You can begin to hear the whine around 3200rpm.

On hwy, transmission stayed at 212 degrees most of the time. I guess that’s normal. I have both cat covers from Travis. Max was 213. City & hills, it stayed under 208.

I did get another lean code at the end of our trip. Our place is at the bottom of a hill. Gotta go up a hill to get to the last hill. Well just as we crested the hill, my daughter yelled to stop because she wanted a picture of the deer grazing by the side of the road. Boom, came off of boost and hit the brake. Lean code popped (p0171). No problem, reset the code on the scangauge and moved on.

The Harrop is a highly recommend mod. Expensive, yes. However, it’s enjoyable in every way.

I have been lurking here for a while and when I saw the treads about driving between Houston and Lake Travis I figured I'd join in. I live in Houston and make the drive to Travis a few times a month.

I had my Harrop installed a few months ago and have been very happy. Harrop's support and willingness to answer questions have been second to none.

So far I have received 2x CIL's. One for MAF out of range, and one for throttle position sensor/switch "A" our of range/performance.

For the MAF issue I only get the CIL (no limp) and can easily reset with the OBD tool. The only annoyance is cruise control is inoperable. This has only happened twice and Harrop sent me a new MAF wiring harness extremely quickly and so far, so good.

On one separate occasion I was in the boost and let off quickly and got the throttle position CIL and the truck went into limp mode....kind of scary when this happens as the truck feels like it's running on 1hp. That said, easily resettable. I also got every other light on the dash when this happens including warnings about radar and trailer brake malfunction, so the whole system alarmed....but the only code logged via OBD, was throttle position. My assumption is that forces induction caused the throttle body to move out of phase with the throttle position sensor and caused alarm.

Gas mileage is hard to comment on because I find myself on the throttle a lot more than in the past...I'm sure new brakes will be in the near future. I actually purchased the Tundra on the way to a Colorado Elk hunt when my 2018 Raptor left me Found On Road Dead outside of Lubbock (story for another time). I averaged 18mpg at 70-80mph from Colorado and back, then I did a King lift and tires, and now I never average over 15mpg. I think I'm down to about 13mpg lately, but likely more me than SC.

I'm not a WOT all the time and rag it out person, but making some boost per gear is more my style.....I also have a 1300whp supra, so I have some experience around boosted engines and how to modulate a throttle. At 40psi and WOT I target a ~9.5AFR.

With the OBD scanner I see 11.9 AFR's pretty quickly, even at half throttle on the boost. I'd like to know what the actual AFR is, but I understand the stock system is narrow band and only reads down to 19. that said, I can see that the computer calling a target down to a 10.5 AFR, but I can only see that it reaches 11.9. While in the boost I see Cat temps going up to 1550degF which I watch because I have read that prior SC'd trucks have cat life issue. I have also read that temps below 1600F are ok. I only see 1550 for a few secs, then it drops to 1200-1300F while cruising quickly. One issue wth my OBD scanner is I get a few second delay between throttle input and OBD reader output. I can log, but it only logs every 2-4 seconds.

The way the Harrop kit and stock tune work seems ok, but I'm really itching to be able to tune. I feel the stock tune fights a bit between making power, torque management, and trans shifts.

    Happy to answer questions.

my interest surrounds ViktorG's video tuning the S/C tundra, where the toyota ecu protects the cats using an assumed load calc & will adj fuel to protect them.

    we'll see about that!

So what you guys are saying is avoid sudden let go of gas pedal when in boost? would a diverter valve or bov solve this?

it has a functioning bypass valve. it's just that if you let off quicker than the valve can open, you will get a lean code.

I think my computer is learning....as it has not done it since the hill incident in Austin.

today, i was at full boost going over the shpchannel bridage and let off at the top....no code. this was done to check cat temps. scientific shit.

    I reached 1350 max temp.

The catalyst temperatures you guys are seeing are just estimates calculated from a table in the ECU. They are not measured directly in any way, there is no EGT sensor in the truck.

Interesting info VictorG. Any idea how close the Toyota calcs are to reality? Are they high or low?

also, when the computer tries to commanding a rich afr, like 10.5 or lower, do you know what happens? Does it try to enrich to that level or can it only achieve the 11.9 I’m seeing?

I don’t know how close the calculations are to reality.
The ECM can command and achieve an AFR as rich as 9:1 no problem. It just doesn’t know if it has achieved it or not because any A/F sensor reading richer than approximately 11.8:1 is not able to be measured by the ECM.

Finally took my Dragy unit along for a ride to measure 0-60mph.

    2015 LX 570
    Mods: Harrop TVS2650 Supercharger (Stage 1 )
Tires: Yokohama Geolander HT, decent amount of tread, but 5 year old rubber
    Traction: off
Drive mode: Automatic D mode, did not manually shift.
    Tune: Stock tune.
    Gas: 93 Octane, full tank
    Curb Weight: 6000lbs

    Results:
    0-60 5.75 seconds
1/4 mile time in 14.02 seconds.

Recorded video of slightly slower runs but very consistent. Apologies for the blurry cam. For those that don't know, Dragy is known to be pretty reliable in the automotive world for 60ft, 0-60, 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile stats.

Final thoughts: This mod was worth every penny to me. This trucks moves now and I am definitely enjoying the power!
