What is really going on???

So I ordered a trd pro june 16th, truck was built on July 9th and scheduled to be delivered last week. They keep pushing the eta back and finally my dealer sent this... has anyone ever had this issue or any information. I'm truly tired of waiting on this truck.

 

I can’t vouch that your truck is actually delayed for that reason, but that reason is a real reason across numerous manufacturers all across the U.S. (and world). Parts and materials manufacturing and supply chains are still a mess everywhere.

Edit: the only way I can see for you to guaranty getting a truck is to find one for sale. If you cancel this order, not sure you’ll have any better luck with any other made-for-you truck. Supply problems, especially chips and other foreign-made electronics, are slowing all manufacturing, not just Toyota.

 

It’s sucks. But I would just wait till it comes in if you are not in a hurry to get it. I was not in a hurry for mine to come in.

 

Many options are not installed at the factory, but at the "port" in the region where they are going. It could have left the factory but left waiting for a part at that port. Especially applies to anything that uses a microchip.

 

Sounds like your truck is built but waiting on a port installed option like step boards or bed liner.

 

I had a similar issue. I ordered a ‘21 Pro on 8/27/20 and took delivery 12/18/20. I would have thought it would be better by now.

 

I Had ordered early April. Delivered to my dealer in Canada June 14/21...

 

Man, sorry to hear. I have a Tundra en route that was built on 7/24. Fingers crossed there are no delays, I too thought we were past most of the supply chain issues.

 

Fires in Mexico are wiping out manufacturing facilities...CanAm just got f#^$'d by Mexican fires too...

 

I know how disappointing it can be waiting for a truck. I had money down at a dealership and when the truck arrived they sold it to another person and it took about a month to get my down payment back.

I’m a small town Indiana guy who believes in a mans word and a handshake mean something.

Lesson learned: Paperwork or it didn’t happen and don’t pee near an electric fence.

 

Sucks. But I say be patient and you’ll quickly forget about it once the truck arrives.

I know the dealer said it is a part shortage, but it could just be waiting for a car carrier. I’ve heard the shipping industry is short long haul drivers.

 

It sounds as if the dealer is doing what dealers do best - not knowing what’s going on so just pulling an answer outta their ass.

“It could be doors, wheels, hood….sitting in a shipping container off coast of Ca”. Umm - no - I would almost GUARANTEE it’s none of those things.

What it LIKELY is - unit failed quality control - got pulled back and is delayed in shipping until they can replace what failed on them OR SE Toyota simply had a couple of units that didn’t make it to them - or that they managed to run into each other or something.

Bottom line though - they will make it right, and you will get what you ordered. It might take 5-10 days more - possibly even 20-30 worst case….but you’ll get it and it will be worth it.

It sucks - but it happens. It’s funny all the problems I am hearing about now ordering cars - deposits and such. It’s funny - I had NO problem getting Pro’s and wound up passing off 2 I didn’t take because I didn’t feel like driving back to Ohio to members here.

Byt back in 1997 - I ordered my Firebird special from a GM dealer - who managed to lose the franchise right before my car was due to arrive !! It was funny I optioned it oddly - and just so happened to find the EXACT car sitting in a lot in Pittsburgh one day while up that way - a call to selling dealer and a swap was quickly made for one of my dealers unsold units and I drove it home the next day.

I still think someone screwed up and let the order go to a dealer in PA knowing the dealer I bought from was filing bankruptcy and would never pay (but contractually GM owed that car to them as they ordered it and had the allocation with terms of payment after end user sale).

 

I'm in no rush but my navy federal loan goes void the middle of September if I haven't purchased a vehicle. Really not a problem but they will need to ding my credit to get approved again. These dealers really are zero help and never seem to press the manufacturer for details. Good forbid you try and call toyota to get in touch with one of the plants to ask what's up with a truck that's been there for 20 days.

No the only options I ordered were bed liner and led light upgrade. I'll check out he's post though thanks!

 

Any updates on your truck? What is known about the port installed options? I entered my VIN on the Toyota owners site for a Tundra to be built Aug 27th and noticed some options are port installed. Just wondering where this is done and best case scenario how much time it adds. After being promised my Tundra would arrive in plenty of time for an early Oct. camping trip I'm starting to wonder.

 

My truck has been pushed back until late Sept early August now. I don't have any port installed options just the spray in bedliner. It depends on where you live to determine the port that will install your add ons. I live in ga and we have a southeast toyota port actually next to my home town.

It looks like I'll be able to see the next gen tundra before mine arrives lol

You mean it hasn't left San Antonio or hasn't had the port installed options completed?

 

Nothing has been done. Toyota keeps telling my dealer they are waiting on parts. It's absolutely insane, I thought my dealer might have been just lying but I've confirmed through southeast toyota that my truck doesn't even have a rail car assigned to it. As of yesterday built or not its still in Texas

 

Oh boy. Sounds like I'm screwed. At the dealers promise to have my truck in my hand before Oct. 1st, I bought a new travel trailer and made reservations for Oct. 8th. I even explained that I intended to buy this trailer and they said no problem. Yeah, right. No problem for them.

OP what color did you order? was it a PRO? I had a deposit on an MGM pro with the exact same build timeline and was told the exact same thing from the dealer in NY. I was able to switch to a Lunar Rock with a timeline that is slightly later.

me too, it seems as though a bunch of dealers were allocated LR's up here in the NE this past month.
