I was the first at my dealer ship but I could get bumped if someone comes in, and I expect them to, and pay way over to get the very first one. . I am deposited on a TRD Pro at MSRP. As of now, it's the only trim I want. Dealers are making unofficial deposit lists for 22's now. There's a few dealers I have reached out to that have people so anxious they are volunteering to pay $5-10k over MSRP to get the first one.

I decided a couple of weeks ago that I'm going to wait a year or so and pick up a used one. I've always been all about getting new vehicles, but we bought a one year old Lexus for my wife and the warranties they give on the certified used is amazing. Plus I wont have to pay over MSRP. I would love to get one as soon as they come out though, so we'll see how strong my resolve is.

That's why I chose refundable. I like everything I see so far. I love the pano roof, red interior, the continuation of the roll down window, coil suspension, etc. The exterior I think I need to see more angles and paint combinations. I'm waiting for full production gallery photos and the builder tool. But mostly waiting on pricing. Hoping the TRD Pro lands somewhere in the low 60's (can't believe I'm saying that about a f***ing truck).

Thanks for the input, if they say it is non refundable I will defiantly walk away or go to a different dealership.

Yeah, I don't care about being the first one in line, I don't mind waiting a month or 2. I just want to reserve my place in line since I have a feeling there won't be any available on lots to purchase for a long time, especially with how long it has been delayed.

You don't have to be defiant about it, no reason to make a scene.

He was poking fun at the spelling error. You typed "defiantly" and I believe you meant "definitely."

If the Sep. 19th release is real, is that when trucks start production? How long can they keep everything under wraps once they start building trucks?

Nobody said anything about a release on the 19th. That's when people are speculating that the next update/reveal will be. That date is pure speculation based on the time displayed on a phone in one of there previously release images of the interior.

No one knows when the next update will be. No one knows when production will start or if it already has.

So I contacted 3 dealerships in the area about the deposit for a 2022 Tundra. The biggest one gave me some more info on it. He said that the 6 cylinder turbo they will start taking orders in November and releasing in December, which I think we already knew. But he said that the hybrid will be releasing in April of next year, which I hadn't heard an official month yet, but someone may have mentioned it before.

Note: misspellings and wrong words are not intentional

If their fleet website is correct in stating MY2022 orders start Sept 1, I think keeping things quiet will be VERY hard, given fleets would probably want to know the specs of the truck they're purchasing. Unless Toyota is pulling a Ram and will have a "Tundra Classic" for MY2022, but I have big doubts on that one. I'm thinking we will see specs the end of this month. https://fleet.toyota.com/ftc/public/fleet/tundra.htm

However, Toyota does say coming "this fall" and fall isn't until Sept 22 so who knows.

Thanks all. I’ve been lurking for a while and look forward to seeing the trucks. The link above from page 311 of this thread led me to believe they may already be building some models.

It sounds like they were doing trial runs for the new Trundra back in July at least. Maybe even earlier than that as the OP wasn't specific in his response. I would think we would have caught wind of Toyota switching over to the 2022 if they had though? I can't imagine every employee would keep their mouth shut about that ha

If nothing happens on the 19th then Toyota marketing is truly garbage.

Just because somebody sees Elvis in their toast doesn't mean he's showing up to breakfast.

Taking the time of 9:19 on a phone's clock as a promise of a reveal date is a stretch. Was it an easter egg with a hidden meaning? 50/50 shot. I won't be surprised either way.

It could mean 919 ft lbs of torque in their new HD diesel truck.

Ha. There’s no way. But wouldn’t that be awesome?

It was more the comment they made specifically on that photo in their release "it's all in the details."

The dealer in person show and tell is in Vegas around September, they were originally planned for NYC auto show, but that got cancelled.

Alpha, Beta, Gamma runs are over, now is pre-production.

There's quite few things involve, the chip shortage issue is still a real problem, and there's no immediate solutions in sight, everything is at least 1-3 years out.

Tijuana is still on going, and San Antonio stoppage is not until October for Tacomas.

I think a tundra classic wouldn't be pulled off because they only have one plant to build tundras in. Hopefully they put out specs soon.

Toyota was not directly affected by the chip shortage as they have a large stock. Indirectly though shoppers from other brands cleaned out some Toyota inventory. That along with the month or two shutdown of the Tundra plant helped create this mess.

They are now. Toyota learned a lot from Fukushima in 2011, they began to believe in keeping chip inventory after that.
Their good fortune only lasted about 6 months, and also Renesas had a fire not too long ago, so now Toyota is roughly in the same situation as everyone else
