Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

I have seen reports of driveways, malls, workplaces, churches, clubs, apartment parking lots, even busy parking lots like Walmart and Home Depot.

Or hear your neighbor's truck start up at 6am louder than it normally does. Then they ask if my doorbell camera caught them (it didn't, not in the field of vision).

 

@Classy63 Tyler, I want to purchase these tapered washers from barnes 4wd for the added protection/determent, but I'm still confused on what size I need for my shield I will be receiving, and how many of them I will need? Im assuming I will need 4 of them for a set of your front and rear cat plates as stated earlier in the thread

 

Yeah, I forgot to mention that, too. Mine’s a 4wd, and the t-case makes it very difficult to access. I suppose a real pro or someone really determined will still steal them no matter what, but I can see how it would be a deterrent to thieves who want to do a quick job and get out as fast as they can.

 

I thought the same. I had heard of cat thefts, but since I live in a small town in Texas away from the big cities, I never thought it would happen to me. Boy was I wrong! Got mine stolen in early May, right in front of my apartment. Video surveillance captured the moment, but the video feed was too poor. Two months later, they stole the cat from my neighbor’s S-10.

It’s been a mess getting my truck back to normal since then. OEM cat converters are backordered for months. After two months of waiting, I gave up and went aftermarket but still used OEM O2 sensors. They cut the O2 wires, among other things. Those other things include the fuel line and the EVAP purge valve line. Took forever to figure that out because the cuts were hard to see and hidden up by the exhaust manifold. Total insurance damage was close to $7K.

A $700 cat skid won’t prevent the most determined cat thief, but I still think it’s worth it for the deterrent effect.

I was stationed at Ft Hood for way too long, and in my experience, criminals seem to have greater range in Texas. Everything is bigger there, right?

As an FYI, even the steel plates are not going to affect anything. I have steel plates, and front and rear steel bumpers. Truck doesn't even notice the weight.

 

They contain very expensive precious metals.

 

Have any of you 2wd guys added any additional protection to the rear plate since we don't have a transfer case?

 

I too had never really considered the amount of extra weight from various mods done to a truck until I started reading the various threads about towing and payload on tundras.com.

Well, it looks like I’ll be putting in an order within the next few days. My driveway camera caught someone snooping around the driveway about 5:30am this morning. No damage done, but this just pushed up my timeline to get this done faster.

Luckily I have less than a year left in San Antonio and I’ll soon be outside Cheyenne, WY on 35acres of my own land away from big city problems.

Still looking for an answer on this, are the pentagon security bolts that I ordered along with the shields 1/2 inch or has that changed? site says 1/2 inch

 

So if I ordered this week, what kind of timeline are we talking about for black aluminum cat covers and engine skid plate?

 

i ordered on May 29th and still don’t have mine so it may take awhile. He has had a lot of unfortunate setbacks that have put him behind. But he is doing his best to get caught back up.

 

The bolts at the back of the front cat plate are staying 3/8’s

 

I hate beyond belief being this far behind… I am hounding my vendors to get more done faster… I will throw money at the problem to satisfy my customers, I will catch up and I am beyond sorry for all those who are waiting

 

Hey Taylor, I’m not sure how the new plasma cutter prioritizes your Bisiness. They’ve had the 3/16 aluminum plates for weeks now and you mentioned that you’ve only got a couple of sets out of them. Are they putting others in front of you?

 

I hear that (about Fort Hood). I was there for 6 months and volunteered to go to Kosovo just to get out of there. Ended up having the choice between Honduras and Kosovo so I took Honduras. Fort Hood was not my favorite place.

Looks like RCI sliders will require rear bracket and/or hardware modification to use the rear cat plate.
Still need information on CBI sliders compatibility with Valhalla plates if anyone has them...

 

Don't stress over it. It is what it is.....it's not like there are multiple companies that offer anything like this. You can only do so much within your control.
