Vacuumed it out and tossed a bunch of trash out of it. Looked at my headlights that look like they're covered in algae and decided I might tackle them tonight when it cools down.

Re-greased all 8 zerks on driveline today. While in the scheduled maintenance literature, I found this interesting note for the 2006. Am I crazy? I thought none of the 1st gens have air cabin filters? I distinctly recall coming up w/nothing when searching for such a part at Toyota's site.

I've heard of taking a dump feeling good. But never heard of taking a truck to the dump feeling good.

It’s just fantastic to have a dirty old truck I can treat like a dirty old truck. And with a big ass bed that can fit big stuff. And truly wonderful driving a light truck with a v8.

Probably better for Lunch Table but speaking of dump….we had one close by back in my younger days with a Schlitz brewery and a Del Monte canning facility in the area. All the slightly damaged cans/bottles would be taken to dump by those companies. When Dad needed construction material hauled to dump, I graciuosly volunteered. Wasn’t my favorite beer but it was free, until the govt or somebody made them quit doing it

Driveshaft back in with the new slip yoke and… no more clunking when I punch it, downshifts precisely and drive just seems tighter/more responsive.

Another thing I noticed is I don’t get a clunk when shifting between Park, Reverse and drive. I didn’t even realize that wasn’t normal till now.

Out of curiosity, can we do homelink mirrors on 1st Gen? I guess we would need to secure a connector and route to the fuse box for power? And then just glue on a new mirror mount?

Just curious, is some of that cloudy on the inside of the lens? Ive wondered if that’s ever an issue with retrofits, I have zero experience with them or how they seal

You'll want a bit of negative camber if possible, not positive. I'm currently running -.5 iirc.

Was feeling skeptical after the buffing was done. This is one of those kits where you scrub by hand, I kinda prefer the drill version.

Yup. Years ago I tried many kits and only got 90 days of clear at best. I tried a meguiars kit and that got me just over a year of clean headlight, that version used the drill and a clear paste that you wipe on after. This is a newer meguiars and comes with basically 2 scotch Brite pads to use with a compound, then an aerosol can of clear coat to seal them with. Cost $20. We'll see if it lasts the year it advertises.

I followed the Chris Fix headlight restore way a few months ago. Removed headlights and wet sanded with various grit sandpaper and sprayed 3 coats of clear. Supposed to be "permanent". I guess we'll see. Headlights don't look brand new but much better than before.

Key fob, 2003 AC Limited. Friends fob was falling apart, taped up. I ordered one on big gurlll (PHM), went through very detailed instructions and it works. I was expecting failure. Now to convince friend to purchase another as a spare is the next challenge. The 03 has RS3200 security system, not sure if it was factory or dealer installed, so just picked one that stated original must have led above lock button.

Cleaned all the glass out of the door and popped in a new passenger front window. Also lubed up the window track on the regulator. Works fine. Need to get a tint job for the front windows to match the rears.

And to take my new tire to get mounted to get this spare off the truck
