I know this is a real thing I’ve seen it posted on Facebook and YouTube. My truck has 9k miles and recently a creaking noise started up front mostly backing out of driveway and over bumps. There no tire rubbing and nothing loose so I’m fairly sure it’s the skid plate. Has anyone dealt with this? If so whats the best fix? Sounds like the dealership just tightens the bolts which I’ve already done.
    Thanks

I believe some put rubber bushings between the plate and frame where it bolts up

Very common. Search feature is your friend. Mine comes from the aluminum - steel interchange towards the back of the plate.

Do any of the aftermarket plates do this? I have a creaking as well pulling in and out of the driveway. I have the RCI skid. It could be the TRD front sway bar bushings too. :notsure:

I think that may be over-torqued bolts on the plate.

    Too many, but not enough....
Rubber washers or foam tape around contacts and most importantly is properly torqueing each bolt. I haven't heard a peep after both of those steps.

I have had RCIs on two trucks now and no noise from them what so ever.

I'm thinking sway bar bushings maybe?

This is the fix. $2 dollars in rubber washers and 30 minutes of your time. I was maddened by the sound for 4 years until someone on here posted the above info. Refer to comment #20 for the nuts and bolts of it. Three different Toyota service depts couldn't figure it out for me.

It is the Skid Plate mounting points, most likely the rear ones. Trust me, I have seen this movie. Place rubber bushings/shims between the bolts and the skid plate, as well as between the frame. Your noise will disappear like presto.
