Purely my opinion and speculation, but I don't think Toyota is going to hike the price by 10K for equivalent trims. I would expect and increase, sure, because prices go up every year by a few hundred dollars anyway. With it being all new, and demand etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see a $1500 to $2500 bump in MSRP. The real question on the price is going to be whether or not the dealerships are going to add to it with "market adjustments" and such.

Yes I understand that I was incorrect in my thinking…

But where does upping the ante stop? I all for technology improvements which will equate to better load stability and handing. However physics are physics and that can never be changed. Small tweaks are being made to the domestic pickups but yet their towing and payload number have risen significantly. Don’t know if I buy that…. For example my family owned quite a few 10 and 12 foot landscape dump trucks. The 1985 Ford F-350 gasser 10 ft handled, from handling and stability perspective, 3 yards of sands much more easily than our newer 2004 F550 10 ft diesel. Obviously the F550 was faster with a load but the rear swayed like crazy. And the tF550 was rated for a lot more weight…

Yes Toyota does need to up the ante to an extent but truthfully the wheel can’t be reinvented with out drastic change like removing a frame or something of that nature.

ADMs will definitely happen. The chip shortage is nowhere near resolved, it's just as bad as ever. I think everything even remotely desirable is getting an ADM these days...

You may be right. My only reason for thinking it might be more is that their cost on the existing Tundra has to be pretty low considering how long they have been making it. With the cost of developing, facilitizing the factory, and adding a bunch of "new" tech I would think that a 63k loaded Limited isn't out of the question.

My bet is we will just see weight savings and beefier structures to try to catch up to Ford.

Absolutley not. If they came back to me saying the cooler was causing the noise in 4WD the truck would be gone the next day.

Just did some searching and found info on autotrader for MSRPs though the years. The closest comparable event we have would the when the 2nd gen launched in 2007. First pic is the prices they showed for the 2006, and the second pic is for the 2 engine options in the all new 2007.

Looking at that, your worries may be justified. It looks like it was right in that 10K neighborhood.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I think it’ll reach a point to where there’s no reason to go bigger. I’ve been waiting on them to raise the daily calorie intake from 2000 per day for years, but it never seems to change.

Well, the 2022 will have a completely new frame, and suspension. If they want to have a heavy payload option like Ford, now is the time they will do it. I would love to see a Crewman 6.5 bed 4x4 available with over 2K payload. Hopefully one of the plans was to match Ford capability and we will see that option. The rear suspension set up gives them some flexibility if they want to take advantage of it.

titanium frame, aluminum body, and a carbon fiber bed, if that don't get the payload to 4k nothing will...

For the small sum of $150,000 . lol
I think they’ll increase the payload by about 300-400 pounds and have a lot of tech as optional to Match the big 3 but I really think the MSRP is going to go up by a few thousand . They won’t ask more than people are willing to pay though .

A Ford F-150 Platinum and King Ranch, GMC Denali/Chevy High Country, Ram whatever, all have MSRP of well over $70k-$80k.

I know the domestics come off price more but not a ton like everyone says and thinks. At least around here anyways. You are going to pay close to $70k to get in those trucks.

The highest trim in Tundra's are 1794/Platinum and are basically $55k, or about $20k less.....

Do the domestics have more features? Sure they do! But in all honestly all you are missing in 360 cameras, air conditioned seats, panoramic moonroof, and a little better sound.....

If Toyota is going to roll out all the upgrades that are rumored, spend all this money on R&D, plus the pictures they have been dropping, looks like they intend to build a truck comparable.....

Why would they build and sell a truck that is comparable to the big 3 and charge $20k less?

It makes no sense for Toyota to charge a couple grand more or about $57k than they do now......

I will bet about anything you will see big big price increase.

More likely imo that the MSRP price increase won't be ridiculous but the discount from MSRP will evaporate. A Platinum completely loaded with an MSRP of $58k selling for $47k will be a thing of the past.

I could see an MSRP of $62k with very little discount.

SR5 Tundra yes I agree. But I remember several years ago the TRD PRO was 48K and now it’s 54K base. Depending how many things they add is how much it will go up.

Anyone know.....it's time for me to upgrade and was looking at F150s......just stumbled upon that Toyota will be updating the Tundra soon.....

I use to have an 05 Tundra and always missed it except for the gas mileage.....

I know people are sentimental of the current V8, but looking forward to the details on the hybrid, unless the V6 double turbo gets the same performance as Fords.....

**edit…I guess this was already covered!

Explain why you multiplied by 100?

Easy way to “check your work” 10% off the msrp of 50,790 is 5,079 and you got more than 5,079 off so it can’t be 8.61%!

    1-.86168=.13832 is 13.832% off.

Toyota doesn't chase numbers like Ford or the others do. Besides it's still a half ton truck and will be designed as a half ton truck. If it does happen to beat the others payload/towing numbers that won't last long as the others will chase numbers just for bragging rights and Toyota will ride with the same numbers for a decade or more.
