Air Vent Mount

Un-holey vs Offroam air vent mount.


Anyone here recommend one over the other?


The one potential weakness I see with the Offroam is the ball has a powder coated finish vs the ram ball (that would mount to the Un-holey) has a rubberized coating on it allowing it to grip (anything clamped to it) more securely.


The other potential issue with the Offroam mount is that the ball on it is not interchangeable (as far as I know).


With that being said I believe the Offroam mount has a cleaner look to it.


I currently use Ram produces so it’s important that the mount works well with the Ram line-up.

I have a couple Unholeys and like it them a lot. However if you plan to use a ball mount the OffRoam version eliminates the need to buy the ball adapter so if i was going to start over i would give OffRoam a try.

 

I have a pro clip and love it. It doesn't obstruct the vents, and I can glance at my GPS without taking my eyes off the road, since my phone is extended above the dash

 

I have the Unholy mount connected to a Ram ball and a Quadlock iPhone case. Previously I used a Ram X mount and switched to Quadlock in April of 2021 (I like the Quadlock system but that's a whole different conversation and ridiculously expensive for what it actually is). There is a small amount of wiggle in the mount that I was worried about but after almost 3 years it hasn't increased. It's proven to be solid and works very well with the Ram products.

The obstruction of the vent is an issue. The vent is still partially open but is not adjustable with the mount on. I notice the airflow issues when it's super hot outside.

I can't compare it to the Offroam, but the Pro-Clip is a solid alternative that doesn't block the vent. If I was making the decision again, I would probably purchase the Pro-Clip just because of the vent.

 

I Put a Pro-clip in my wife's Highlander and was not as impressed with that system. The way it attaches in the HL it acts as a bit of a sprung lever and her phone bounces a lot more than mine does in my Tundra. Also, Proclip needs modification to work with the ball mounts.

The Unholy allows the vent to be open 100% and does not block flow if mounted at the top of the vent. A 5"-6" arm places my phone in my peripheral vision to keep my eyes on the road. i assume it would be the same for the OffRoam model too but i've not had one to mess with.

 

My Unholy does not allow the vent to be open 100%. However looking at their website I see there is a new version that does!

I decided to get a couple Offroam mounts. Ill report back when I finally get everything mounted.

 

I have offroam. It's very sturdy. Like it so far.

 

X2^^^ . I had mine for more than 2 years its been great.

 

Got everything mounted up the other day. Offroam makes a nice clean product with great customer service! I like how they incorporated a rubber padding on the clamp so to not damage the finish of your vent ring.


I’m interested to see how the black finish on the ball will holdup over time, it would be nice to see Offroam put some sort of rubber coating on the ball (like RAM does).


All in all, very happy with it thus far.
