I back into parking as well. I have a camera, but don't use it until I look to see how close I am to needing to stop. So much easier to use the mirrors when actually trying to park.

I always back in to spots, too. Unless I know I have to get something from the bed. I take a lot of pride in my reversing ability with no backup camera. It's a lost art ;)

you are so correct. i almost didn't post that comment for that very reason
i crack open my door and peek outside or look out the window to accomplish this last part. And yeah, I have a pretty good feel for the corners of the truck using mirrors. I figure it will only help me in trail situations if I practice daily

Grew up farming. Driving since 12. Drove water and grain trucks. Using nothing but side mirrors made me learn to reverse better. It sucked trying to back up a grain truck to an auger.

The exception around here is if you have a DRW truck, centering it over 4 spaces is better than trying to squeeze into 2 and inadvertently taking up 6.

I had to do this one time when I was in Banff. Most never wracking hour of my life while I had to leave the truck there. Luckily, when I got back, it didn't look like the cars on either side of my had moved.

I like to pull through a spot then use the camera to line my back bumper up with the line so I'm not taking up two spots or hanging out into the driving lane.

I do this too if I know nothing is going in the bed. Nothing worse than doing that and someone pulls in behind you and you can't get to the tailgate. I love Costco parking. No worries with a center walkway/gap between rows.

Other than holiday shopping season, you can always find a parking spot in the "south forty". We all (she) can use the exercise!

My biggest fears were either the basketball goal gets blown over on the side of the truck ( I have It anchored down now ) or one of the dogs claws tearing the leather with there claws. Now I have A rear seat cover. Wish I could fit it in the garage, but it’s too damn long. 3C0FA097-8025-443F-B7D6-B9351B85C17C.jpg 7E6C6677-7268-4C8D-B828-B94A178980B7.jpg

We have a lot of travel with baseball. I try to park where I can see it from my room. Last tourney in Jersey, my room faced the woods. They were full and I could not get a different room. I had to leave my room, walk to the end of the hallway and peek at the lot a few times. I feel I am crazy sometimes.

    Lots.
I had a wasp fly up into my full coverage motorcycle helmet while I was running at speed with the visor cracked a little for ventilation, back in the day. Sucker stung me three times in the face and head before I could get stopped and pull the helmet off.

That happened to me many moons ago but I heard the wasps before I took a drink. Poured my Mtn Dew out and 3 wasps were in there. Ever since then If I'm outside I only crack the top open just enough to drink out of but it keeps all the wasps out. Lol sometimes I'll still shake it around just to be safe.

Lucky you! I don't wish my experience on anyone, not sure I would be here today had there been any multiple of bees in that can. If drinking soda nowadays I use a thin straw and finish consumption before doing anything else.

I actually have 3 rescues and they love to go to Starbucks each morning to get their pup cups ( whip cream ). The one you’re talking about was an abused hound mix. He was found eating rocks on the side of the road and had heart worms and a big burn mark on his back. The other 2 are shepherd mixes, the black one is mixed with a lab and the little one is mixed with a hound. Wish I could save them all, but 3 is our limit. We love adopting abused, special needs, or senior dogs.

That breaks my heart to hear! Both of ours are rescues as well, but neither from abusive situations. People just couldn't keep them. Both are Golden Retriever mixes.
