Like i said… it doesn’t say world beater in that article, because the guy was not talking about that news release. Notice how world beater was in quotes? He was quoting something… a news article… from months ago… from unnamed dealers

You are correct it was not "Toyota that said it, it was this guy..

Robby Findlay, Chairman, Toyota National Dealer Advisory Council, told autonews.com in an interview in February this year that the 2022 Toyota Tundra will be a “world-beater.”

There's three drive modes. You naturally don't have 4WD when the selector is switched to 2WD. Flip the selector to 4HI then you have full-time 4WD and the CDL button that can be engaged at any speed to get a 50/50 torque split same as a basic transfer case. Third drive mode is 4LO with CDL also.

It's not all that complicated. Very versatile and very reliable.

We do like to argue a lot over pictures.

The problem is we’re all a bunch of neurotic dumb asses, who by nature want to obsess over the details. When we’re deprived of plentiful information, and put on the “mushroom diet” (kept in the dark and fed shit) we will resort to over analyzing what little tidbits of information we can get. Like the location, geometry, and clearances of shock mounts on an axle.

To me they look nearly identical to the current truck front and rear. The only real difference I see is in the shocks themselves, since the TRD Pro teaser has piggyback remote reservoirs stacked on the main shock down around the mounting bracket. So the shock itself protrudes lower because of the extra reservoir, but I don’t think it’s due to a change in the relative location of the mount on the axle.

Mr. Dragger, this is well said. People are so quick to just assume the designers slapped the suspension together without considering these things. Of course they're trying to strike the best balance of suspension performance with an emphasis on off-road capability within design limitations. I'm sure Ford has determined there are benefits to positioning the rear shocks how they did on the Tremor, but I think you can make a case for clearing obstacles in certain situations with tucking the shock in close to the wheel. Granted these pictures aren't the same scale, but who would be more confident taking the line drawn on the Tundra pic, than the Tremor? Like you said, they're basically hiding the lower shock with the wheel itself.

    upload_2021-8-11_9-37-26.jpg

Besides, 99% of these new Tundras will never see obstacles like this, and those that will, will likely have larger tires for more ground clearance anyways.

You gotta think some of the folks over at Toyota USA watch this thread and get some level of enjoyment watching us kill each other over these little scraps of information. Just like when I forget to feed the fish in the pond for a few days lol.

Agreed. Plus if I’m in a situation where I have obstacles that tall passing under the truck, and the line I have to take is unavoidably going to put the obstacles close to the ends of the axles I’m still more concerned with losing a tire sidewall than a shock absorber mount. Particularly since ground that rough is going to see me driving slow enough I doubt I could hit hard enough to take out one of the brackets. Maybe damage a shock, but the wheel and tire are still more likely to contact something first given how close the shock is to the wheel.

Between myself and a friend of mine we’ve had a variety of misadventures getting into or out of hunting areas in the Black Hills and Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. We’ve never damaged an axle, or suspension hardware, but we’ve sure lost some tires.

Am I the only one who has found himself looking at the shock mounts on every truck they pass for the last day? :)

I'm very interest in the new Tundra but more interested in how much I have to pay to upgrade. I only have 20,000 miles on my 2018 Limited and its in near perfect condition. If it's a few thousand difference I may pull the trigger if it's a lot more than a few thousand I may not. Always hard to like the new if you like the looks of the older model.

You will most likely have to pay MSRP now for a 2021, I had to for mine and one dealer wanted a $2k premium. However, I got 73% of MSRP for my 2016 Tundra with 93k miles.

Same thing here in WV. Also, the personal property tax rate varies by county. We just moved to a better county last year with a higher tax rate. So I’ll pay more on taxes for my vehicles, trailer, etc even though it’s real world value didn’t change from county to county. Ridiculous.

It's just the lighting that highlights the booger-welds holding the strut mounting bracket to the frame. '07-21 models have the same weld points, just cleaner looking in low light lol

As much as I need the long bed, it's going to take some getting used to. It already looks a little ungainly.

Awesome to see a new configuration! Is that a 6.5 or 8 foot bed? I sometimes struggle to guess from pics.

Hoping a Double Cab with 6.5 foot bed will be spotted next.
