OP, sorry to hear about your issues. Hopefully Caliraised chimes in. I did my due dilligence before buying lighting for my cars and came across quite a few posts/threads/reddits complaining about caliraised lights. I do like their sliders and ditch light brackets but decided to go with other brands. Hopefully your situation gets rectified otherwise your loss is not as bad as a few ive had when it comes to car accessories.

Got another email from Blake this morning saying that whatever is rattling around inside (he doesn't know) is not a problem and he "assures me" there is no issue with the light. He speculated that it was pieces of debris left over from the manufacturing process. The fact that he thinks that is perfectly fine says a lot about their quality. It sounds more like the reflectors or circuit boards are loose to me.

I told him the fact that it was rattling at all was the issue and that he couldn't assure me it wasn't a problem because he didn't actually know what was causing it, and asked again for a refund or replacement. No response all day, so I started a dispute claim with my credit card company. We'll see what happens.

I got another email from them insisting there's nothing wrong with the light bar but I can return it at my own expense if I want. Apparently their only standard for quality is whether the thing turns on or not. Everything else is "no mechanical issue" and "can be installed no problem".

Really surprised that the forum staff is cool with letting them ignore this for over a month, and still be a official vendor.

I stand corrected, just looked at the official list - they aren't on it anymore.

Give them a minute. They have 2+ pages to go through, and then time to formulate a response. I'm just as eager to hear their response as I intend on purchasing a bed rack from them. I'm just advocating patience for the moment.

Well, does the light work? Have you tried it? Would you hear the rattle when its bolted to your grille and you are driving? Does the rattling object move, as in if you hold the bar sideways it drops to the bottom? Or could it just be a plug inside the fixture that isn't secured and makes noise as it bounces around?

Hearing more about the rattle would help to know is it really defective or is it just an annoyance.

I mean, in all honesty - the fact that it has taken them over a month even read the thread, let alone reply - seems to corroborate with everything OP was saying about their customer service. I'd steer clear if I were you.

I understand this, but IIRC they haven't been very active on here when the issues were raised. I may be wrong, but I though it had been weeks/months since they'd been active?

My name is Nolan, I started working here at Cali raised led about a month ago and been taking over the forums from Jake playing a lot of catchup. We stand behind the products that is why we have a 2 year warranty. It looks like this situation was dealt with on multiple occasions via email and even posted over multiple forums. I know Blake has discussion about the situation and mentioned that the customer can send the items back. That is where we are currently at. When dealing with customer service we want those conversations to be had with that branch of the company to ensure each circumstance is handled properly as a forum is not the quickest way to resolve an issue.

I can appreciate your POV. I already lean this way when it comes to the lights. I feel, and have for a long time, that if I am going to go with lights it'll be Baja Designs for the simple theme of getting what you pay for in electronics.

I recall, a couple years back, CaliRaised split into two, one business doing the lighting, the other doing metal fab. It may be that experience on the metal fab side will be different than on the lighting side. Not sure if they’re actually separate, but I recall hearing there was a “bought” involved.
A few of us initially told the OP the same, but it read like he was ultimately told he could live with the rattle, or return at his own expense.

If that’s not true, we’d appreciate an update, because several shied away from purchasing pending a better outcome, because none of us want to have to put up with a rattle because the light output works.

Ok. OP got their opportunity to speak on this issue, the vendor finally chimes in with their reply - so I’ll jump in with my 2 cents after the fact.

First - I apologize of this was already answered and I missed it - but on the first 2 returns/exchanges - who covered the shipping ?

Secondly - as I understand it - OP bought an item, it had a “flaw” - real or perceived - the OP wasn’t happy with it and returned to the vendor. Fair enough so far - things happen and a product can arrive damaged - and vendor did the right thing sending a new one.

My question comes to the replacement. OP - if item # 2 had the same flaw - why not pursue a refund completely and move on - was this option ever presented to the vendor and if not - why? I mean burn me one - burn me twice as the saying does.

No need to give 3rd chances and keep running up shipping cost here - you got 2 and 2 times weren’t happy.

I think it was that Cali Raised originally partnered with a company as an outlet for their products, that went by Cali Raised Off Road (this was the secondary one) and then the original moved to Texas. They basically broke ties, but couldn't actually legally compel or obligate the other company to change their name.

I went back and forth with you guys privately for weeks before creating this thread. Almost 20 emails between us before I even started this.

And where we are currently at is Blake saying I could return the light bar IF I paid return shipping and a 15% restocking fee.

Having a warranty is irrelevant if it doesn't cover poor build quality, merely whether it turns on or not.

And the “higher price/better quality” logic - I will simply say - it’s tricky.

Can it work like that - sure.

Can you also waste a ton on money going through life with that attitude- yep.

Asked anyone who has ever bought a Cadillac overpaying for a GM worked out for them - yes, it is “luxurious” - but in general 98% of them are just prettier Chevys in my experience.

This is true, and the attitude/approach must be applied on a case by case basis. For light bars, the majority of what I have seen leads me to believe that it's best to go with one of the big fish in the pond, if for no other reason than the fact that their profits/sales pad them enough that they are generally willing/able to absorb the losses of these types of situations.

I told them several times throughout all this that I would take a refund or a replacement. They decided to send replacements instead of just issuing a refund. After the 3rd one I asked for a refund instead of another replacement, and then Blake stepped in and said they wouldn't do either because there is "no mechanical issue" with the light bar.
