I have a 2017 TRD Pro. Considering adding aux rear lights, maybe increased back-up lights, but thinking additional lights for off road work. Probably LED. Suggestions?

For off road I run some rear facing amber pods attached to the bed rail behind the cab. That's so the guy behind me can see me through the dust. Before going with and aftermarket rear bumper I cut my OEM bumper ends and put some flush mount pods on a switch for auxiliary back up lights, those are white.

I installed some flush mount Rigid pods with the diffused lens. Have them wired to a switch that i can turn on anytime.

    Flux capacitor!
Do you prefer to have your rear lights down at the rear bumper height or more up high? I have the rear bumper lights and I also have a 50” Lightbar facing the rear below the rear window. Rigo fabrication has a couple various brackets to mount single led pods or large light bars from the OEM tie down bed rails.

I have a Fab Fours rear bumper, so my install won't help you but if you check my build thread post #16 there is a picture of the lights under my bumper. I have added lights in this manner to 5 different trucks/SUV's. Most of them, I have been able to use an existing bolt to mount. I am not very impressed with my current Amazon Cheap LED's. I'm thinking of going back with 55 watt non LED. I have always wired direct so I can use them without the ignition on.

I’m heading out of town in the morning, so I may not get a chance before I get back. That said, I mounted them to the nerf bars. It was easy and secure, but I think them being so close to the ground are causing the bad hot spots underneath. I’m considering moving them to the rocker panel, but I’m not sure if that will make a ton of difference.

Which harness did you buy and how did you route it?

I have a relay fuse box for auxiliary equipment under the hood. The switch/trigger wires run into the cab and plug into the switches. No different than the relay harness that comes with the lights or the stand alone harness you buy on Amazon

Are your painted bumper ends plastic or metal?

My harness is zip tied to the main harness along the frame rail from the rear all the way to the engine compartment.

They are factory plastic. Under the plastic is metal that has to be cut thru as well
