Soooo I just got my OEM Tonneau Cover installed on my truck today. Which seems to be a Extang Solid Fold 2.0 look-a-like. I even asked the parts specialist at my local dealer if they were the same.

All she could tell me was:
"They are branded Toyota and built to Toyota specifications but Toyota does source them out to another manufacturer to produce them."

So my question is does anybody know the weight limit of standing on one? either OEM or any other aftermarket Tonneau. I ask cause I plan on standing on mine when washing my truck... I'm short and require some help haha so any help is greatly appreciated!

Here's a picture of the new cover if it helps.

Most tonneau have a distributed load rating. That is to say you can put up to a certain amount of weight on it as long as that weight is evenly distributed across its entire surface. So for example 600 lbs worth of 4x6 plywood. I don't think any of them are intended to be stood upon where all the weight is concentrated under your feet.

That said, I don't know what the rating is for your specific cover but can comfortably say don't stand on it. Now one thing you can do with a folding cover, is you can fold one of the panels over which effectively doubles its rigidity, for that ⅓ section. You might be able to get away with that, as long as you aren't a gorilla like me.

I have the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 and couldn't get their reps to give me an answer on this. I'm also short and was thinking the same thing. But when u consider the panels are not hard and solid I wouldn't risk denying or damaging it. Instead just unmount the cover and move it down a bit, then replace when done. It's easy to take off/on.

I have a hard time believing they don't outsource their accessories.

    That's bull right there LOL

It may be "modified" to say "Toyota" and a couple other inconsequential additions.

Haha ya I know what you mean  Eyes be half closed... I did receive an email back from the parts specialist saying:

"The tonneau cover does not have a weight limit. I would not recommend that you stand on it to wash your vehicle. Roll it up & stand in the bed of your truck if you can."

So guess i'm just going to have to find an alternate way to wash the top lol time to break out the A Frame ladder =P jk jk ill just stand in the bed lol:anonymous:

Half closed? you do better than i do in the mornings! LOL

i'm 6'3" and still use an extender to wash the roof of my truck while standing in the bed! Before getting the extender, I would do the back half then stand on the step bars and do the front quarter and then hit the other side.....PITA!!

sometimes i wouldn't even touch it! LOL

A little of this and a little of that.
I agree with others that standing on your cover is a very bad idea. Get a step stool or ladder.
