What light bar are you putting in the bulge? I'm thinking the Rough Country 40" for mine. I don't like the NSV and the Baja S8 is nice but expensive. The Baja is ~1K and the RC is $250.

I believe that piece screws in to the top of the engine to add the new oil.

I enjoyed your write up! I am about to do my first oil change as well. I've only purchased a few things because I want to see how difficult and how it goes the first time.
I'm debating about buying a TRD skid plate so I can do the oil filter with just the trap door. Have you considered that? I've also heard there is a YouTube video on crating a trap door in the stock skid plate but honestly, I'd rather spend the money and have the TRD skid plate if it really does make life easier.
Only things I've bought are the MotivX tools, threaded funnel and drain tube for the filter.
I'm considering the fumoto valve and the aluminum oil filter thing but I'll probably see how things go the first time before doing that.

Thanks again for the write up!

RCI skid plate has the trap door too and will be like half the cost of the TRD skid plate.

Yes, it does. And not only that, but you can get other clear sections (the bottom part of the funnel) to fit other engines. I have one for our Hondas, since it has different threads, and yet another adapter for the half-turn oil cap on our Sienna. It makes dealing with 5 qt oil containers so much easier with a fixed funnel.

It threads directly where the oil filler cap is removed. Yes, it is an expensive funnel, but it guarantees no spilled oil when filling.

Do you have a link to the video for adding a trap door in the stock skid plate?

I’ll probably get an aftermarket skid plate at some sort with a trap door. RCI, Valhalla, and BDI all seem popular here. From what I can tell, they are cheaper and better than the TRD plate.

In the last two weeks had diffs, xfercase, trans, oil changed out and also a tire rotation and balance.

Then this weekend, just a normal wash and I dressed the tires for the first time using chemical guys VRP.

My new to me 2018 Tundra SR5 isn’t even delivered yet and I’ve made the first purchase. Have to get rid of that audio system!

Props to James at tech12volts for the attentive customer service. Looking forward to the install.
