Yikes. Looks like a new truck, too. Wonder how much that trailer weighs…

I was wondering the same thing. That trailer looks as big as the truck.

Can’t tell by the pics, but an average dump trailer like that is about 3500-4000lbs. I’m assuming he doesn’t have a W/D hitch and the loader dropped a nice big load in the trailer all at once.

I guess that the extra GCVW did not help with the tongue weight.

His thought must have been "If the tundra can tow the space shuttle , then this should be easy"..... Fiat Frame snapped like a twig . Gotta love it !

Like many others here I was just taking the opportunity to bash the Ram Brand which IMO is grossly overrated.
I do realize that my comparison isn't exactly accurate

That sucks for the operator and owner. Not hard to get overloaded in a material yard. Happened to myself a few weeks ago.

that dump trailer isn’t all that big. Dump trailers look big. That’s no more than a 14’ dump, but I bet he has 11000 pounds in it.

When loading/unloading material, the jack(s) come down to prevent this kind of damage.

I don't understand how this happens... 11,000 lbs shouldn't fold a 1/2 ton in half, no?

Edit: I guess I could see 2,000lbs of instant tongue weight not being appreciated.

I have a little walled 5x8 trailer that I take to get a yard of soil on occasion. I don't think twice when he dumps the bucket all at once.

This is exactly why we use my wife’s tundra to tow our 30 foot travel trailer. I also have a newer ram but the rear coil springs suspension makes very sketchy and unstable. Plus I’m sure the frame flex's a lot more. Same size engine but two totally different trucks

    That’s probably a good guess.
If the trailer is 12’ long and 5’ wide, loaded up with 3’ sideboards. Topsoil average weight at 80lb/cubic ft puts the load at 14,400lb!

Depends on how it was loaded. I have seen some new loader operators just dump material on trailers instead of “shaking” it in. The material is also severely tongue heavy. I was getting crushed concrete last year and had an operator do that to my dump trailer. I dumped the material right there and told him to load it correctly. I had no intention of towing 30 miles on CO craptastic roads with a tongue heavy trailer…regardless of having a 1 ton.
