Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

I would love to see some pictures of these installed with the pentagon bolts, I want to know how well it all works

 

I bought 4 of these washers, just need some shields to go with them

 

As I promised here are some pictures of the rear cat plate installed with my Desert Eagle and TRD plates

 

Nice. Like the Barnes 4WD tapered washers with the pentagon bolts. Did you take a closeup of the washer/bolt by any chance? Looks like it would be tough to get vice grips in there, especially with the pentagon bolt head shape.

 

@El Two did a test on different bolts with a different tapered washer that made a lot of sense - - trying to slip some vice grips onto the bolt head. Granted the extra time to pull them off using that method would still likely present a discouragement; but it would be good to know. I'd gladly buy you a glass of bourbon if you'd roll back under there and try.

Vice grips are not getting it. Not enough room. Combined with the Nyloc nuts a hard task. Like anything else it is a deterrent not a guarantee but if I was in the business of stealing cats I would move on to an easier target especially in TX where I live, you wouldn't want to be caught making a racket in the middle of the night with a grinder under someones truck it would not end well.

This is the fit of the pentagon bolts and socket with the 1/2 inch taper washer. All I need is the plates and other hardware.

New style, 99% of all order I have now will be new style plates, I have a few of the old style at powder coat, but that is it

Tyler @Classy63 , just out of curiosity, what is different with the new style plates compared to the old ones?

 

Do these come with good quality bolts and hardware? I noticed on the order page, the rear skid has the option for pentagon security bolts, but not the front?

In my research over the past month, there were some that went with a cone washer. I assume it's to reduce the chance of the bolt head getting knocked off?

The plates come with all of the hardware needed. Hex bolts are standard, but can be replaced with the pentagon security bolts.

I like the Rockhard4x4 bolt head protectors because of the wider taper, however, the dimensions that they show will not work with the pentagon socket. (I sent Rockhard a request for more details on the washer sizes, but received no response.)

I personally have the pentagon bolts, but not yet the tapered washers.

 

Regarding the pentagon bolts only for the rear skid, using 4 pentagon bolts on the rear skid also provides security for the front skid since 2 of the bolts are shared.

 

$10 per washer? Am I missing something?

 

The 3/8 bolts are moving to 1/2 bolts, some alignment adjustments, spacing on the circle holes for more strength, and updated Z bracket design to aid in preventing plate to transfer case contact
