We get good mangos here in Wisco but don’t think I’ve had good guava since I left California years ago

Last time we were on Maui, we hit up a couple of fruit stands and I don’t even remember all the crazy stuff that we bought but a lot of it wouldn’t last more than a few days so you could only get that stuff on the island. It was so good.

I was sorely disappointed in the pineapple though…seemed very hit and miss

 

Yeah, everything is seasonal. Probably just not the right time of year. Bought to be apple season here and I love me some Honeycrisp!!

 

Ordered at 7” wide in halo. These will be pricey but they are gonna be killer.

I appreciate that. Todays been a bitch of a day. We drove an hour and a half up to Fort Hood last Saturday to go to the PX. My wife thought she bought "Poison" Parfume - not Eau De Toliet - and was really, really happy...

Stay with me.

We get home and she realizes she bought "Pure Poison." So she's upset and I just want to watch TV. She calls Randolph AFB (an hour and a half away in the other direction from our home) and the BX there has 4 bottles of "Poison" Eau De Toliet. So I agree to drive there this weekend (today).
Turns out Randolph only had "Pure Poison" also. However, I found a nice pair of Nike Metcon 6 shoes and some chewable Creatine so it was a "win" for me. So she's bummed and makes me take her to Famous Footwear on the way home. I cruised through 2 different stores while she was trying on shoes and, when walked into Famous Footwear, I found a cool pair of camo Crocs. Another win for me.
It was getting late and I was getting hungry for a burger. She didn't want one so I took her to a greek place and I had a gyro. It was pretty good. The best thing was she was cheering up.
On the drive home, we were passing by a pretty big shopping area and asked if she needed to stop. She said "No" and I said "Good, because we just passed the exit." Then she says, "Oh, I forgot there was a Penney's there." Damn. Fortunately, there was another Penney's on the way home and I was started to get kind of gassy because of the Gyro so it was safest for everybody if we got into open air.
She went straight for the sales rack (I've trained her well), and split off, finding a great pair of Levi's and letting out toxic farts in strategic areas (usually under a speaker because they were coming out pretty loud). These are great jeans and they were one sale.
Anyways, it's tax-free weekend here in Texas so the line was crazy and a little 3-year-old girl tried to pickpocket my phone out of my back pocket. We finally got through the line, and they want our phone number so they can spam us. I told the lady we live an hour away so we don't really get out there too often.
We load up, drive the hour home, and I'm pretty excited about these jeans. They are 541 and just fit nice. They have the fading areas on the legs... Damn good find. I pull them out of the bag and the lady had left the security tag on them. And it's one of them ink splody tags. Son of a bitch. Just like cutting open that damn papaya.

 

I need a new cooler bad. Just can’t seem to pull the trigger on one. Need a big one and medium.

 

I miss Door County cherries. And New Glarus’s Belgian fruited beers like their Belgian Red and the apple one they did.
I went to school at MSOE and also spent a lot of childhood summers out on the thumb (my parents are both from Wis, still have a ton of family in the state).

out here, the fruit selections are pretty damn good too, but no tropical stuff.

We just got through mango season down here and we had plenty. Honey mangos are the best (yellow not the green and red ones) we have 3 more pineapples that are just about done and one ripe one on the kitchen counter. Fresh grown pineapple is so damn good compared to store bought.

 

Yeah, I’m about 15 miles from NG brewery. New Glarus is an awesome little town. 12 NG beers on tap in every bar/restaurant. Never cared for the fruity beers though.

 

That’s the best bedtime story I’ve heard in years. Sorry for your loss(the jeans) but sounds like a couple wins and an overall entertaining day.

They have so many good ones - my roommates and I always had a NG on rotation in our apartment in college (we had a two-tap beer fridge). It will always have a special place in my heart.

Never been but it’s on the list. Damn place is far as hell from everywhere else so I don’t know if I could live there.

Yeah, I miss picking berries on the roadside out west. Big ass blackberries everywhere. And not all seedy like here.
