Oh I also got skid plates while I was away. I mentioned before my hiatus how I damaged my transfer case on a trail. Figured I pay for protection before I cause serious damage and inflation makes things even more expensive.

Haven’t installed the Transmission or transfer case skids yet cause as I need to replace the transfer case gasket. As an fyi, just cause I haven’t read this before… skid row’s transmission skid requires holes being drilled in the cross member. Not too bad as there’s already an opening on the bottom side and only needs a hole drilled on top section but still something I didn’t know and would have preferred not doing.

Just noticed @des2mtn is also a turtle. How many of you are there? Is there a master splinter?

Des2mtn, I’m still looking forward to hitting the trails together… hopefully with the company of others here. I admire your pinstripes

I went custom. Because I wanted it with the cooler built in still

And American made with a lifetime warranty is nice. Mishimoto I’ve installed for friends (other cars though) and they’re ok. Never had one fail yet, but never been overly impressed.

I’ve had the door cards off many times so I’m assuming it’s a simple job.
    Door card off,
    Remove plastic barrier,
Try not to get said plastic barrier goo all over the door and myself,
‘Roll’ window down to make mount points visible,
Remove what’s left of old window,
Cuss for a bit that I have to do this on my own dime,
CLEAN ALL THE GLASS SHARDS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR,
    Slide in new window,
    Lube, lube, lube,
    Reinstall goo’d barrier,
    Reinstall door card,
    Take to the tint shop….
    Right?
I’m an all up or all down guy but how do you ‘fix’ the scissor Jack?

No master splinter here  I think there are 6 or 7 turtles running around though.

Here's the turtle in my yard. My dog keeps an eye on him all the time.

    Join the turtle gang.

Once it cools down, I'll be in the desert at least every other weekend. In addition to T2S, there's also San G up in Big Bear next month that's going to be a lot of fun.

Given I know dick all about window tint, maybe call the shop and see if it's easier for them if you just bring the glass in?

Also fuck tempered glass that shit is a pain in the ass to clean up and sometimes just randomly likes to break for seemingly unknown reasons.

Finally put a H-D window sticker on it. I figure it's as fast as a black one now. Or is that a white one? I can't remember...

Ah good idea! I’ll call em today to see if that’s easier/cheaper. I may want them to tint the both fronts to match the rear though as I don’t like the lighter tint on the front windows

IMG_20210807_074254.jpg Changed the oil and filter. I chose a Wix 51515 filter because of the success I've had with them on the Jeep 4.0l. Same specs as OEM but larger. I put Mobil 1 10W-30 high-mileage for now since we don't have flow problems here in the desert in the summer. I'll change it out to the factory-specified 5-30 by Dec.

    IMG_20210807_073338.jpg

And, just so us non-rust belt folks can appreciate our rust-free frames, etc., after reading about the issues some of you have been having, here are some images of the 21-22 y.o. frame on my '01. It's got reddish dirt on it but totally rust-free. Even the factory part # labels are clearly legible and not a single corroded nut or bolt. Very thankful.

Is it the ph8 or ph2 or ph16 thats the go to for a bigger filter? My last oil change i used a regular mobile 1 cause it was on sell, but im a big fan of big filers. Although the water cooler sorta negates the benefit a bit.

I’m completely jealous. I guess the only real question is how long the AC lasts before it needs an overhaul. I imagine you guys in the desert use yours more often than us. I’ve only recharged my system once and I already know I need a few O-ring gaskets around the dryer since it doesn’t blow as cold anymore.

Not sure of the Fram. I got away from them in the 80's due to the inferior construction and materials used. Although, to be fair, that's the biggest problem with most filters now. The Wix is one of the few I have any confidence in. I'll cut it open at the next OCI and inspect it. The oil will also be used for the Blackstone sample to check the internal condition of the motor.

Haha! No reason to be jealous, I just happen to live where we don't have that issue. As far as a/c goes, I've never personally had to overhaul one in Tx or Az, yet, so I can't answer that with any authority.

I didnt mean just fram, size wise..ive always run big filters unless the right size is on sale. But fram hasnt ever let me down, cause i change often and watch my temp gauge.

and grandpa said to run the ac full time, and in the winter, cycle it once a week, never had to fill it or anything.

Gotcha. IDK, I knew I was going to run a Wix 51515 or 51515XP as soon as I compared specs and hadn't considered something else.
